Did any of the 99.5 FM jocks move to 104.1 after the switch? I can't hear the station where I am at. Just curious.

That statement is closer to reality than you know.
I was there for the flip of 104.1 to Classic Hits "The Fox" five years ago. No comment on the reason/wisdom/success of killing off the previous Mix format -- when management decides to change a station, the staff's job is to follow that direction and execute the new format.
My point is about the manner in which the new format was introduced. If you recall, Classic Hits was designed to be a "not just Classic Rock, not just Oldies, something-for-everyone" format aimed at listeners (admittedly with a bias toward female listeners) who had some idea that the current main rock formats were missing something -- that the rock greats had recorded more than one song each.
The station started off great, with lots of deep, "oh wow" cuts by big acts and immediate positive response. I know: it was my job to load the format into the new-and-complicated automation, so I had to babysit the station for days straight. As such, I would answer the request line and chat with the callers, listeners who got what we were doing.
Almost as immediately something seemed wrong. Initially-positive comments turned into "why are you playing the same thing over-and-over?". When asked, the consultant told us he had limited the initial playlist to the top bands, and was adding the music from one band per day. I remember being told that we wanted to not confuse the listeners and to firmly establish the image of the station before we started getting adventurous.
As you can imagine, we established an image alrighty: as the station that burned out Elton John's catalog. And a lot of other acts. Enthusiastic early-adopters said "pass".
Sound familiar?
yep thats why they call them CONsultants :i hate the bastards
