Did anyone else hear the F-Bomb on WBEN about 4:20 PM on Bauerle's Show today?

Funny only because after it happened, Tom ordered his screener/board op to "remove it from the com... and THAT file, too". The caller was banned from the show for the next year.

From there, Bauerle went on to brag about how no one has ever put one past him in 41 years. Guess what Tom, maybe your not as quick as you used to be! It could be an interesting few days at WBEN during the next few days.

Were you listening on air or via the stream? Because there are no indecency rules about the stream. So it's possible the dump doesn't go to the stream, only the air signal. Which may be why the board op has to manually fix the other files.

Thanks! I was listening on my phone. But indecency rules or not, I don't think an F-bomb belongs on the air, particularly on a news/talk station like WBEN. Clearly, Bauerle didn't intend for that to be
part of his presentation and someone dropped the ball.

Or not. Remember that the FCC doesn't actively monitor broadcasts to try and find instances of profanity - they only act on complaints they receive. Also, as stated upthread, if you were listening to their stream, you may have heard something that wasn't aired on the OTA broadcast.

As I said, if the stream feed is pre-delay, then listeners to the stream don't get the edited version of the show. Based on your description, Bauerle seems to understand that. No one "dropped the ball." It's how the system was built.
