Did NBC ever air any shows after the late news on Sundays?

In the 60's and early 70's, NBC had a Sunday night version of Johnny Carson's Tonight Show. Then, in the later 70's to about 1985, they
had a late movie on Sunday nights. But our local NBC at the time(KYW-TV, Ch. 3, now a CBS O&O) always aired its own late movie on Sunday nights.

I remember Best Of Carson on Sunday nights as well, and I think it aired for a time on Saturday nights (in fact, isn't that what SNL replaced?)

Yes, they aired Carson on Sunday nights, reruns I think. And don't confuse George Michael's Sports Machine as an NBC program. Most NBC affiliates ran that on Sunday nights usually at 11:30 ET/PT after the late news, but it was syndicated.

Reruns of Johnny Carson's Tonight Show aired on either Saturday or Sunday (decision was that of the local affiliate). And yes, the reruns ended at the demands of Carson (which is what led to SNL) and that may have been when the Sunday night movie started. Also, The George Michael Sports Machine was a NBC show from I believe 1984-1991 when NBC dropped it and the show immediately went into syndication until it ended many years later.

I don't remember WYFF/4 airing that; in 1990, they were airing Memories: Then & Now. WHNS/21 used to have Sports Machine at one point though.

I definitely recall all three of the above, with the Carson reruns essentially being bumped by the creation of SNL. That eventually led to movies being shown and then George Michael, although the latter two may have co-existed for a time.

WMC 5 in Memphis never carried the Best of Carson, but I could occasionally get it on WTVA 9 in Tupelo, MS when the conditions were right, and I thought it continued on Sunday nights at least for a while after SNL started. But I do remember WMC carrying George Michael's Sports Machine.
