That 1.7 is not the least bit shabby for a station that is only 6 months old on a frequency that only reaches one of the counties in the market in which is competing against big guns like WBAB, WALK, KJoy and B103. The owner of this new broadcasting company had the temerity to take a risk on a format that the conventional wisdom in this market claimed was a non starter. He also has put in place programming and marketing that is skewing YOUNG, while not rejecting the old timers ( read me- I'm an old timer and I like what he's doing, the Freedom Fest Concert they put on had a little of everything). The Station is everywhere and is involving members of the commmunity. In fact all of JVC Broadcasting's 4 stations are skewing young...Party 105, La Fiesta, My Country 96.1, only WRCN skews slightly older (Classic Rock). Which the conventional wisdom tells us "Young listeners is what advertisers want" well this company is going for them. They've already got more concerts planned, and the people who work there are enjoying what they do. Not only is Carraciolo smart, he's willing to take risks. I'm glad. I am really enjoying the station. And if you want to see the young people who are into this music head down to the Nutty Irishman of Bayshore one Wednesday (the women are hot! and not cause it's 98 degrees outside).
