Difference between female-targetted music radio stations and male-targetted stations

As far as music, what are some examples of male radio stations and female radio stations? Like, which type of formats are normally geared towards men or geared towards women? For example I think CHR/Pop, Hot AC and Rhythmic Pop stations are mainly targeted towards women, while Hip-Hop and Rock stations at men. That is just what I assume, but how are the gender demographics really for music targetting?

You answered your question (for the most part) in general.

105.7 Man Up in Greensboro NC is sort of obvious. The station IDs sometimes get very long and include references to what men like, such as barbecues and fast cars.

At first I thought the music was active rock, and when the station first changed, there was a long list of welcomes from singers who are considered active rock. There's a lot of grunge and similar alternative music, and of course Metallica and other metal artists. But the station mixes in a lot of classics, some of them positively wimpy (by comparison), despite the market having a classic rock station.

Oops. I said singers. Most of the band members would simply be musicians. Anyway, it has been a while, but it would be something like, "Hi, I'm Axl Rose. Hi, I'm Slash. Hi, I'm DuffMcKagan." For many of the bands played.
