Director Rob Reiner and wife Michelle found dead in their home

Even Mayor Bass issued a statement mourning their death. CBS News also confirming identities.

The police rep was unaware of what the mayor said. He was asked, and said LAPD isn't confirming identities.

To me, it sounds like some lawyers are involved here, causing trouble with the PD.

A statement from the family has been released, so that's confirmation enough. Everyone accepts that.

More than likely the PD has conferred with the prosecutor's office and one of them probably told them to "shut up and don't say a word about anything so you don't accidentally jeopardize the case."
They may know for sure it's him and his wife but mums the word for now. And no doubt they're going to cross their T s and dot there I s cause I betcha anything shades of the OJ Simpson mess are going through their heads.

They know who he is, it’s either him or it isn’t.

Reiner was very political and very proud of his Democratic values, often criticizing President Trump. That doesn't mean POTUS needs to attack him and his wife upon their deaths, however. Much like we saw with a lot of college professors and other people celebrating and cheering Charlie Kirk's assassination. Whatever happened to Mark 12:31..."Love your neighbor as yourself"?
I'm disappointed with President Trump.

Posting before this thread is locked. That's all.

It doesn't look good, given that the ages of the victims were specified in news reports on Fox and CBS almost a half hour ago.

ABC7 had the ages on the chyron over the Air7 view of the house as soon as LAPD released that information. Didn't take much Google searching to verify that those were the ages of Rob and Michelle, at which point the "this can't be a coincidence" factor kicked in.

Did we really? The closest I saw on social media were people repeating Kirk's own words in opposition to gun control, such as "I think it's worth to have a cost of, unfortunately, some gun deaths every single year so that we can have the Second Amendment".

That's not "celebrating" or "cheering" his death -- just finding it terribly ironic. And there was fierce pushback against anyone who said anything the least bit critical of Kirk. College professors got fired for saying things as benign as "Charlie Kirk's death is a reflection of the violence, fear and hatred he sowed. It does not excuse his death, AND it's a sad truth."
