Disney Sells 1110 KRDC to KWVE Owner Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa

We use the search function on Roku. It usually will tell what streaming service is carrying the film.
The problem is that I don't have a regularly updated list of films!

Christian radio stations in a nutshell
All non-profits have the same need to raise funds. Since they sell no ads, they require support from listeners and patrons.

Or are you just against all people of faith?

We don't go anywhere without masks and still will not go to a theater or show. Because we are in the higher susceptibility age group, we opted not to take chances. So no movies, no supermarkets, no Home Depot (my toy store) and no (insert tears here) Dierks Bentley or Marco Antonio Solis next month!
I’m mostly the same way & currently watching a great Dresden Dolls concert on YouTube. They streamed & recorded it from their show in New Orleans last night & sent the unlisted YouTube video link to their mailing list subscribers for free. Wish more artists would do that. They’re touring in preparation for a new album & I’ll definitely buy it, just based on them streaming this free 3 hour concert.

I’m not against all people of faith. This truly describes EMF

If so, then it also truly describes every listener-supported radio station on the planet.

And for that matter, every commercial radio station on the planet.

It's a fairly simple three-second statement: "We've got to have money." But you use Lickboot, a villain from "Tom & Jerry: The Movie" (1992) to say it, and preface it with:

Christian radio stations in a nutshell

Forgive us if we're unconvinced that you don't have the issue David asked about.

I have only consumed Puerto Rican coffee since 1970. When we did not have FedEx and the web, I had family on the Island send "Care Packages" of that and some other PR goodies). For last 35 yeas, it has been Alto Grande... available at Amazon now... one of the greatest recipients of international awards from anywhere. Try, and drink it best as espresso and do a double shot or triple shot if mixed with milk.

I think those of us who realize that the average advice-giver knows less than we do will approve of your practice. I always gather comments on TVs, appliance and the like and even have a OneNote page for appliances and services where I can easily cut and paste information.

We watch a lot of paid movies on our OLED great-big-huge screen. We note movies we'd like to see based on reading the Web and when they are available at home, we have one of out "Movie Nights"

My complaint with movies is that it is very, very hard to find which recent theatrical releases have become available at home. While new movies have plentiful reviews and publicity, there is not any consolidated data source that I have found that has a clear "Theatrical Movies that just became available at home" that would show when available, source, cost if any, and also if out on DVD. Someone should do a chart-style compendium of this information, with "New", "Recent" and "Still Relevant" categories (Let me know if there is something that I have not found).

More off-thread ranting: I hate movie listings that don't have an option to only view "wide release" movies. One often has to go through a list of esoteric foreign language "art films", theatrical niche documentaries and the like to find the ones that are worth paying for a one time home view... for all the rest I will wait until they become no-additional-cost inclusions on one of the streams I have.

Heck, I even bought, sometimes, the food items sampled in the aisles of Costco. But we don't go to stores any more, so that is "closed for repairs" to us.

But my wife is a Le Cordon Bleu graduate, so she is cautious but curious about new items. We sample, knowing that it sometimes the "excursion" is more like a trip on The African Queen! Our trick is to make the "sampling" sort of like the aperitif... if not liked, is not the entrée or main dish of the meal and not a disappointment if found lacking... or vomit-inducing.
David, did you go to the Coachella Music Festival back in April ? I was thinking that you had tickets to that, because it was an outdoor venue Did that work out okay? Were you able to social distance? Are you okay about going to outdoor concerts? I stay away from indoor concerts, but I go to outdoor concerts in the summer and practice social distancing. Going to stores, I always wear a mask, because I am in the high susceptibility group. I'm sorry to be off-topic, but I was just wondering what it was like at a big outdoor concert. - D.

We ended up not going and watched it on Amazon Prime. But if we opened the rear sliding doors of the house, we could hear everything on the "Mane" Stage.

Like many in our age group, we still don't go to movies and concerts. My first such event will be the NAB in October in NYC, which includes about 10 hours in airports and airplanes and a meeting facility in New York. Still apprehensive.

Very understandable. I'm convinced I picked up my latest round of Covid in early August due to a day trip into San Francisco - this, even though I masked on BART. This new strain isn't apparently more severe but is more adept at getting past existing immune defenses.

Whos gonna be listening to this KWVE-FM on 1110 AM? I can't imagine many and have to think the thinking here is their minds tell them "region wide coverage means the entire region will be listening".. kinda like that christian prepper on another thread who thought he had something unique worth starting a brand new shortwave station and everyone owuld listen because it was available worldwide

I have listened to K-Wave in parts of LA County. Downey and Montebello most recently, but it's not great. And 1110 will give them a presence in areas where they have never been like the SFV.
1110 is a storied frequency in Los Angeles, owing to KRLA's 40 year run as one of the biggest rockers in town, in an era when rock music was everything. Sept. 1, 1959 they switched from KXLA country to Top 40. They had a powerful 50,000 watt daytime signal, but they had to cut their power at night, for some reason.

The record plants couldn't produce music fast enough. There's a Facebook page dedicated to the Wrecking Crew, a group of session musicians and backup vocalists, who were constantly busy turning out music for rockers like 1110. :)KRLA.jpg

Pasadena's 1110 has to protect KFAB, and WBT. Night power is 20 kW. Back in the day it was only 10 kW. At that time KRLA 1110 had to operate night time with 10 kW because then 20 kW was not a permitted power level and to use 25 kW would have created interference. Back then permitted powers for AM were 100, 250, 500, 2500, 5000, 10000, 25000, and 50000. Stations would not be authorized to use powers in between those points. The rules has since changed.
