DO YOU THINK THE NEW "WONDER WOMAN" SERIES WILL FLY ?

Wasn't that much a fan of the original "Wonder Woman" but I somehow find the idea of this
new series more exciting than a remake of "Hawaii 5-0". Was it a good idea to revive "Wonder
Woman"? Do you think it has a chance of being as good as or better than the original? The old
show sure faded fast after it was over.............don't think I've seen it on anywhere in years.

Is it best to revive a show that is still seen in reruns than one that has vanished from the airwaves?
Or should networks use more brain power try to create something totally new from scratch?

My bad. It's just a pilot right now..........but I'm betting NBC will turn it into a series.

I have no doubt it will become a series and it will quickly suffer the same fate as the reboots of Knight Rider, Bionic Woman, Incredible Hulk, Fame and The A-Team (did they try this one yet or was it just that horrible movie? If not, I'm sure it's in the "to-do" pile).

NBC should concentrate on less whiz-bang explosions and expensive sets for failurific productions and come up with something compelling and watchable. Then again this is NBC and the new media were talking about.

Hollywood really has been devoid of original ideas since around 1983.

I hate this stupid complaint in all of its flavors, it's demonstrably untrue. It only seems like Hollywood is 'running out of ideas' because any announcement of a movie remake or sequel is bound to garner online and offline buzz. You didn't hear any such groans when you first heard of Inception or The Hangover.

I disagree. Look at all the copycat and sequel animated movies over the last 6-7 years. Disney makes one movie after another and the only major change is the type of animal in the lead.

Look at all the "covers" made over the same period of time. Endless sequels here too.

The only "original" thinking is actually an old one - that you can toss new actors into an old story and reel in a fresh crop of viewers ("True Grit" comes to mind).

Come to think of it though maybe there are new ideas but they never make it to the screen because the production companies bet only on previously successful stories which give them more immediate and guaranteed profits.

As if the "golden age" didn't have sequels and formulaic knock-offs a-plenty. But why let facts get in the way of yet another "and get off my lawn" type rant that selectively ignores whatever pesky truths that don't support the flawed premise that only what came long before has any value. :D

sequals are one thing.remakes were far and inbetween.now it seems like every other movie is a remake if not more the fifty percent of released movies.that is the problem with hollywood today.at least knockoffs pretend to be diffrent .now the studios don`t try to act like they are.

there have always been remakes but then they seemed to try harder to make them good quality. now they churn them out like paper on a copier machine and the ones with that effort are not many.

Half of movies are remakes? Smeaking of utterly nonsensical, demonstrably untrue claims. ::)

if you read it correct i said it seems like half of the movies.it isn`t 50 percent but it is way too many.

Your most observable problem, often expressed by people who 'know' all hip-hop music is bad: Your examples are limited to what you hear oft-promoted in the mainstream. If the movie didn't advertise or have a special retail tie-in, would you know even know about it? Are these 50% remakes and ripoffs too?

And I'm not strictly talking about traditional indie films, I'm talking about the 'big indie' projects with big distributors (like Fox Searchlight or Paramount Vantage) you might only see trailers for during other movies and DVD previews? Or how about the ones that premier in combo with movie channels like HBO, Showtime, etc.? A lot of ripoffs here, too?

^then at least the main studio movies have a problem in originality.

there are definatly too many remakes made.

The only purpose of a "reboot" is to keep Will Ferrell gainfully employed.

(I so detest words like "reboot" and "re-imagined")

Too many sequels. I already knew Scream 4 was coming out. Yesterday I saw a commercial for the 5th Fast and Furious Movie.

As for other movies with sequels:

Final Destination - Not That Good

Final Destination 2 - Great Movie.

Final Destination 3 - Okay. Not as good as 2, but better than the first.

The Final Destination aka Final Destination 4 - Still have not seen it.

Lynda Carter in that original costume was just so iconic, I suspect it will not.

(unless the new story line is that Wonder Woman is a nun by day who has the power
to fly and who dons a superhero persona to fight crime at night....now THAT would be
something!)

OK, so who plays Sister Bertrille in 2011, and does Sally Field do a cameo as the new Mother Reverend? :D
