Does anyone listen to any of these stations from Lexington...?

you just don't see listener passion like that today.

There's nothing for them worth getting excited over on the radio today.
And a lot of broadcasters are missing the boat on that count. Doesn't anyone see the value in producing programming that people actually crave & want more of rather than programming that plays in the background & is carefully crafted not to offend anyone? I don't own a station, but if I did, I'd produce a product that people would be excited about. I would rather have a small audience who responds with passion to my programming (and spots) than a large audience who keeps me at 1.5 on the volume 10 knob.

I've been listening to "Power Country K-93" (WSEK-FM) here in Lexington and I have come to know and love it. I think its better than the country music stations here in the metro area (92.9, 98.1, 100.7, and 104.9). Seems like they (93.9) play mostly new country and just country from the late 90's and 2000's. I like that better than stations that play just "new country" or classic country-i hate classic country. The station comes in with no problem on the south side of town, but as you go around New Circle counter-clockwise, it starts to flutter between the Versailles Rd. exit and the Leestown Rd. exit.

Couldn't agree more about the Classic Country...when the stuff was out, country radio was pretty far down the ratings list. The stuff wasn't cool then...it sure isn't cool 40 years later. Makes about as much sense as playing an occasional Beach Boys tune on a CHR station...and showcasing it with a "You asked for it" stager.

This is random and off the subject, but I can remember last year that Mix 94.5 started playing Christmas music in early November. I can't remember the exact day they started or if they just did it on the weekends until Thanksgiving or all the time, but last year and the year before they started at the beginning of November. In my opinion, I think that is WAY too early. I think they should at least start on Thanksgiving Day. Seems like they do it earlier and earlier each year...and its not just our station doing it, its most of the other ones around the country do it too. I was just wondering if anybody knows when "MixMas" will start this year.

Hey, I live in the northern part of Lexington and I usually listen to these stations if none of the ones here have anything good on them at the time...:

WCYO-FM 100.7 Irvine-Richmond, KY

Does anyone else listen to any of these from lex. or any other distant ones that you can't get with just any old radio?
Some of these stations can have some great stuff on them at times.

...and I'm sure a considerable amount of people in Louisville, Cincinnati, etc. listen to Lexington's stations as well. :)

I listen to WCYO, the Coyote...I love their mix of new with classic country and the Friday night show is great.

They have a new afternoon guy that I think is pretty good, too. Sounds too good to be in a small place like Richmond, though. Anyone know anything about him? Mike something, James I think. Doesn't have an accent, maybe from the north?
