I have alot of old Howie Carr autograph stuff hanging around like the HOWIE CARR FOR GOVERNOR" sign. Does that have any value or anything else?

My advice is to look for rare James Brown records.

When Howie refuses to come down for breakfast you'll still have to pay to have the stuff hauled away.

Unless it is from Varulven Records, it's probably worthless. Throw it out.

Howie Carr will be a footnote in broadcasting history. . . if he is that lucky.

key word, probably.

Varulven Records are known and loved in collectors circles. We fetch higher bucks than most, I'm pleased to say. Our discs got tons of national college airplay in the 70s and 80s and still do today, though our focus is on marketing more than college play in the new millennium.

It's a no-brainer, Smoke - a Maureen Tucker 45 or E.P. on Varulven is far more valuable than Howie Carr's book

Howie Carr's book is on AMAZON for $4.72 + $3.49shipping
LOW ITEM PRICE

Meanwhile:

"I'm Sticking With You" Maureen "Moe"Tucker Count 45 $24.99

I rest my case.

You can keep your Howie Carr for Governor posters; we have some rare Willie "Loco" Alexander posters in storage that will go for much, much more in Paris, London and Los Angeles.

Of course, you can ask as much as you'd like for a 45, you'd still have to find someone willing to pay $25 for her record. Wasn't Mo Tucker the Andrew Ridgeley of The Velvet Underground? ::)

Moe didn't date Lou Reed...or George Michael! Yes, you can ask what you want for a 45 RPM, but that is the going rate.

The funny thing is that Howie Carr is an instant cut out! five bucks for his book! Oh, can't wait for the paperback edition - maybe a secret bonus chapter with the Bulger's involvement with BCN's former program director. That'll sell another 3 books...

interestingly, the Unnatural Axe 7" that Joe put out goes for a lot of money. Here's a current eBay auction and it still has four days to go. Up to $130 already. It'll go for a lot more, too.

Not that this is the case, but I've heard tell of SOME PEOPLE bidding on their own stuff on ebay to drive the price up and trying to create interest in said stuff (not that that is the case here, mind you) ;D Just something I've heard SOME PEOPLE do.

Lucy, only a dishonest person would do that. We have to think everyone on fleabay has a top-notch business practices ::)

Seeing that the seller is in Stow Mass the AXE e.p. could be someone's private collection, and knowing that an individual offered me $200.00 for one of my last 2 copies over ten years ago, $150.00 is a great price.
When a DJ pays YOU for a record years after it came out, well, it is a nice feeling.

Too bad that Infidel is saying that person from Stow might be less than honorable. It is pretty easy for
eBay to see who is manipulating the "stock market" so to speak. Amazing that just because I produced the
record - evidence of the value of my catalog - Infidel has to make a crack about a dealer from Stow.

eBay is a great place for an independent label; we at Varulven usually give out a bonus CD with every purchase AND get them in the mail within 3 days, usually the day it is sold. The bands Squiddly Diddly and Slow Children (which was produced by Mr. Curt) gave us many CDs and vinyl for just that purpose. There are thousands of very reputable dealers on eBay and we do business with many of them.

Thanks, Sonic Al, for the evidence that - indeed - Varulven Records are worth a LOT more than the yellowing pages of Howie Carr's cut and paste book allegedly of his old Herald columns.

ever since the "Killed By Death" bootlegs of early punk came out in the 90s, the original pressings of those records have become desirable and, with eBay, the prices have skyrocketed. What's funny is I got that 7" out of a mailorder catalog around '89 or '90... $4. Pretty good investment, I'd say ;D

that bid is legit...

Sonic Al, the final bid was US $182.50

- you could buy about 45 copies of Howie Carr's book at $4.00 each for what one Joe Viglione co-produced single went for on The Varulven label!

I wonder what you would find first, 45 people to buy the Carr book or the record? ::) Just joking with Vasal. please don't reprint your resume again.

I won't, Lucy, but we all know that Willie "Loco" Alexander, Jonathan Richman and Maureen Tucker have all sold more records INDIVIDUALLY than Howie Carr has sold books and they - along with Lady Carolyn fronting my band, are on the 45 RPM

correction, apologies. The Moe Tucker 45 just sold for 24.99 on ebay, the Unnatural Axe for 180 plus dollars.

The Axe are definitely more bootlegged than Howie Carr. Apologies for getting the two discs confused, but they both sold in the past week (two different stores).

there's also an Axe reissue on Lawless Records... I'll flog my own show for a moment--I played "The Creeper" on my show yesterday. That is a classic EP.
