Does this mean Hot 106 looking for a new Neighborhood in the morning (Big Boy)?

CITADEL MEDIA syndicated BIG BOY's NEIGHBORHOOD will be dropped effective 3.26.10. There are currently 25 affiliates running the morning show, which is based at KPWR Power 106 ( Emmis Chr/Rhythmic Los Angeles C.A. ).

Were the ratings any good? Silly question that I ask. I guess not since they are getting rid of it. I think everything since Stern left has disappointed. I would love to know what Stern's highest rating was on Hot 106 and then compare it to the highest rating of any other morning show on Hot 106 over the past 20 years. Has any other morning show on Hot 106 even come close to pulling in the ratings that Stern did?

There's been no stability with that morning slot at all. Maybe Citadel just doesn't have any faith in enough people listening to the station during morning drive to put much effort or money into it. At least I think we can rule out Donny Osmond.

A better signal in the Providence area would mean more listeners to the morning show, not to mention listeners anytime to the station. The signal is weaker on a car radio within a few miles of Neutaconkanut Hill because of the 50,000 watt signal from 105.1 WWLI. On a portable radio in that area, you are lucky to get the station at all because of the interference from the 105.1 signal. They can't upgrade the 106.3 signal so they need to get a translator that can provide a clear signal in the problem area. When they also had the signal on 102.7 the reception in that area was actually better. Even Jam'n 94.5 has a better signal in that area than 106.3 FM. In the 90's KIX 106 would say "Beaming down from the top of the Hospital Trust Tower!" A tower there would be just what the station needs. I wonder why they moved it to Cumberland.

I always thought if they insist on keeping HOT on 106.3 would be to simulcast it on 99.7 FM. Of course this idea is stupid because "why mess with success?" there's always moving PRO-FM or LITE ROCK to 106.3/99.7 and move HOT to 92.3 or 105.1 FM.

HOT's poor signal is why 1320 went hip-hop back 8 years ago. Problem was their signal wasn't much better than HOT's.

They're never going to move Hot to 92.3 or 105.1... both of those stations make a lot of money for Citadel. Hip hop on 1320 didn't make much sense, because where that covers, 106.3 actually does have a good signal.

They were probably just saying that to sound bigger than they actually were. As far as I know, 106.3 has always been in the Cumberland/Woonsocket area.

Why does Hot 106 have the transmitter in Cumberland? It doesn't make any sense. They should have transmiter in providence were most African Americans live. How come in Cumberland they receiver a strong signal that they don't listen to.

Ok, everybody needs to step away from the crack pipe. Move 92 Pro FM or Lite 105, 2 of the top 5 stations in the market to make way for Hot 106 move to one of those frequencies? Oh, yeah....the ratings and ad dollars tied to that really reflect that would work.....NOT! The ratings combined for Hot & Jamn do not even dent the top 5, why would a format move to a different signal have any different affect on the ratings?

And they can't move the stick from Cumberland/Woonsocket or else they would have done it 20 years ago!
