Folks, when I was little, I do remember about dogs cartoon commercial segments in Spanish that it was aired on WNJU in the '80s right here in New York City, so here's the segments:

1. The first dog commercial segment in Spanish was started at 8PM at night when this dog was brushing his teeth and started yawning when this dog says to all of those kids to say good night until tomorrow and kids might go to bed and sleep well, wake up in the morning and go to school every Mon.-Fri., so here's the dog commercial song segments:

(Brushing his teeth)
(Yawning)
Niñitos de mi Corazón
Ha llegado el momento de decirles

Muy buenas noches
Hasta mañana
Y chiqlines que duema bien

??????
??????
??????

Muy buenas noches
Muy buenas noches
Hasta mañana
Hasta mañana

Y chiqlines que duema bien
Esté perrito se va la cuna
Y los niños a la cama

Gua, gua, gua
Gu, gu, gu, gua
Y ustedes tambien
Pooh!

2. The second dog commerical segment I do not know.

I vaguely remember seeing the dog, but I especially remember when WNJU used a cartoon cat as its mascot. I specifically remember the 10 PM legal ID slide, which had the cat staring at the clock with a worried face, while the announcer read the line (in Spanish) "It's 10 o'clock, do you know where your children are?"

I was in New York in 1983 & 1984 for St. Patrick's Day, and I saw a bit of it myself. Unbelievable! ::)

Aren't you thinking of "el gato de WAPA" (San Juan, P.R. station...like WNJU, was owned by Screen Gems at one point I think)? Or did WNJU have the cat too? Incidentally, go to YouTube if you want to see the WAPA cat, search for "gato de WAPA" and there's like four different spots.

Now, as for the dog spots...I TOTALLY remember those. The dog's name was "Mac" I think...and I do remember the second spot. I can't remember the dialogue, but do remember the scenario: the dog has puppies, and is in his easy chair as his wife comes in to tell him that dinner's ready. When the dog family sits down to eat, Mac notices one of the puppies are missing. He goes out to look for him, and finds him in an alley or something where cats are trying to give him cigarettes.

I'd love to see one or both of these again. Heck, ANYTHING from the '80s WNJU and WXTV! Let me know if you have any footage!!!

I don't remember the dog but I did do the YouTube thing...and YEAH!!! SAME "GATO!" The ONLY difference with the spot on WAPA versus WNJU was that WNJU had the "7", since it is channel 47! Otherwise..the exact same thing!

I'm curious to know what font they did with that "4" though (with that slant being "cut out" of sorts)! The "4" is the exact same on WNJU as well!

I recall Salt Lake City's KTVX and San Antonio's KMOL (now WOAI-TV) using the same "4" as well -- were those stations in the same family as WAPA and WNJU at one point?

When this puppy barks at the family kids door while making loud noise, Mac says "Y ustedes tambien" and puppy jumped on to the crib for to sleep and puppy pulled to closed the crib were the signature says "Fin" means "The End" in Spanish and the music ends.

KTVX (known at the time that logo was used as KCPX) sure was (and sure did use that same "4") - however, I noticed that the logo WOAI used while KMOL was different, though the "cut out" hole was similar (not to mention WOAI/KMOL not being owned by Screen Gems, that I know of). As for the "7" part of WNJU's 47 logo of the early '70's to mid-'80's, I have to wonder if it was derived from the mid-1960's logo of WNAC-TV (later WNEV and now WHDH) in Boston, per:

I REMEMBER THIS COMMERCIAL 100%. The way AlvaJr decribes it is on the money. I remember it was my favorite commercial as a child. It was basically a commercial telling kids, that's it, time for bed.
Does anyone know where I can view this commercial or even download it?

alvajr, for that first segment with the dog singing goodnight, do u know where I can get a video of it?? My mother hasn't seen this in years and would like to see it, so I'd like to surprise her with the video! If you find something, please notify me!
