I got a laugh out of this story.
Apparently Good News Garage in Cambridge which Ray owns has the same name as a company in Vermont which is working with the state to give free cars to the welfare "Clients" and they have been getting some calls looking for freebies.

ha--yes I know the name is the same. I was pretty sure it wasn't the same one (esp. since the orig. news stories had said it was in Vermont) and now I know for sure

Tom doesn't drive. No kidding. He lives in the city, and you'd have to be crazy to want to own a car in downtown Boston. His last car, though, was a 1952 MG TD.

Ray drives a thoroughly modern, fuel-efficient car. By comparison, that is. It's a 1987 Dodge Colt Vista. Ray calls it, "A marvel of engineering." The rest of us call it "a study in ugliness." He bought it off a customer at his garage for $100.
