Hey- Doug here. I was alerted to this thread and registered just to respond. Ha!
To set the record straight, Lisa and I are not "out" — we were not "cut." We both got awesome offers outside of TV, and like so many these days for one reason or another, we left the business to try something different and enjoy normal hours. We put in our two weeks and left on good terms, nothing more to it than that. KHOU is actively hiring, and if you look at their job listings, you will see two digital/social media-related jobs open along with several others.
Aside from that, considering the recent report from the NY Post, it seems the Tegna buyout negotiations are pretty far along to consider layoffs/thinning the herd. I'm sure anyone interested in buying the company already looked at the numbers from many months ago and is likely even considering the numbers from the FY 2019 instead of 2020 due to the election year sales bump.
Take care.
