Dr. Laura and the State of Radio

Say what you will about Dr. Laura (and you have on the other threads) she is one of the most listened to radio shows in the country. So ....... now what? Who's going to replace her? Who's waiting in the wings so to speak? I've been asking this about the highly rated show hosts since Rush had his deafness episode. Radio doesn't groom anyone anymore. They don't develop talent anymore. I mean ...... come on ......... Rush is going to retire one day. Same with Hannity, and Levin, etc.. So who is going to replace them?

Syndicated programs on the AM band are close to dead, done, fin. It is an era that has run it's course.

Love him or hate him but when Rush hangs his hat up for good you might as well call AM radio that band with all the different languages and Godtalk.

There will be no replacements because there is no one in the wings being bred for a success behind the mic. It's a television world now, so those with a "face for radio" need to find an FM gig in a world of AutoDJ 5000.
