Dr. Laura In, Phil Hendrie Out! What is Happening at 680 WPTF?

Phil Hendrie did not last very long on 680 WPTF, Dr. Laura has taken over his spot. It would appear to me that Mr. Curtis is trying to merge some of the talk shows from WDOX (now Country Classics) onto WPTF, which could potentially turn into a listener's nightmare.

Thoughts and opinions, please.

Thanks
Stuart (still wondering why would a station air a call in talk show several hours later, when one cannot call in?)

I called that one. Phil is too good for around here.
Who cares if you can't call into the Dr. Laura show. Most people just want to listen to others trouble. Why not. Works anytime.

I guess it's a toss-up between hearing pre-recorded listener calls about their troubles, or live calls from listeners who are troubled by the comments made by the fake guest at the moment...

Hendrie's still on Curtis' WZTK FM Talk 101.1. Maybe they didn't like having two stations duplicating the same program in the same area?

Hey, Stuart - you should know - it is not about the calls, its about the listeners. Dr. Laura, Clark Howard, and other shows are pretty timeless. Their calls are entertaining and sometimes imformative, and the answers apply to thousands of people.

Used to fight that battle a lot. Always said I could blow up the phone system with a physic, but who cares. What they have to say only remotely applies to the caller much less to the thousands of listeners.

It is tougher when you delay someone like Rush, Hannity, Boortz, etc. They are often too timely to be delayed very much. That said, Rush fans will listen to old stuff all day long.

And finally, what about television? Do you really think the Tonight Show and Late Show with David Letterman are actually aired live (not to mention the re-runs)?

You see, it is about the topic more than the timeliness in almost every case.

I would add sports talk show (Jim Rome, Dan Patrick) to this statement, as well.
