So WEDJ has been off the air all day now, and I have been picking up distant stations on 107.1 all day. One station I know for a fact was Kiss FM in Cincinatti, with Hip Hop music, and Clearly heard Kiss FM I.D.. I heard 2 other stations drift in on 107.1 too. One station was playing Foo Fighters-Learn to Fly, Possibly Alt Rock, or Hot Ac station, followed by Uncle Kracker-Drift Away, then I heard a Commercial for a Bussiness in Bowling Green Kentucky fade in, Possibly the same station??? Any Clue on what these mystery stations are?

There is a 107.1 in Lowell, Indiana...but its only 1.3 Kw, so that's doubtful.
The station in Kentucky is probably WUHU, a 50Kw licensed to Smith's Grove, just outside Bowling Green.

And surely you don't mean WKFS Cincinatti? That's only a 3000 watt signal (on a large tower, albeit)

God! Don't refer to them as a "Danville" station. That make's 'em crazy. I was the PD of 107.1 when they were smooth jazz, and one time we went off the air when a truck parked in front of our feed horn over on Indy Court. We all went crazy as to why we weren't on, until we saw the big trailer parked right in line with the feed horn!!

107.1 WIRX from Saint Joseph, Michigan is a possibility for the rock station. I believe there is also a rock station on 107.1 in Champaign/Urbana, IL.

As for the station with the BG mention, that was definitely WUHU.

107.1 happens to be one of my best frequencies here in Southern Michigan. I've heard WEDJ from here, as well as WKFS Cincy WZVN Lowell and WAZU Columbus.
______________

Any chance the DANVILLE licensed station is for sale?

As several others have mentioned, the Bowling Green station was WUHU. I believe that could have been the same station that sounded alternative rock or hot AC. Another possibility for alternative rock is WPGU 107.1 out of Champaign.

WDOH, Delphos could have made the trip. WKFS is 2800 watts at 867 feet.
______________

In other words, the equivalent of a 25,000 watt station at 300 feet. WKFS is a class B1 station. Upgraded in 1997 or 1998, IIRC.

WKFS certainly has quite a signal range, though. I can start picking them up just east of the New Castle, IN exit on I-70 and almost without interference just outside of Richmond.

You certainly picked up a lot of great catches. The atmosphere was probably also working in your favor with unseasonably warm temperatures and a strong approaching cold front. WUHU is regular catch for me here in Lafayette under similar conditions.
Edited by Apollo79 on 11/29/05 05:20 PM.
