(Dyett) Rev. Wall plans protest march at WBZ Friday (CBS warns of arrests)

http://globalministriesboston.blogspot.com/

Rev. Bruce Wall has been warned not to trespass on CBS property but he is planning a march
at the WBZ studios to protest the treatment Lovell Dyett has been given. Wall says he is
supporting Dyett because Dyett supported him in the 80s when "there was a 'hit' out on my life".
CBS says the ministers/other marchers will be subject to arrest.
The march is scheduled for Fri at 6 pm

I don't get this!

I've known Peter Casey for almost 20 years. He is one of the smartest, nicest people I know-and a superb programmer. I can not understand why he just doesn't give this guy back his show. I mean we're talking three freaking hours late Saturday night-not exactly prime broadcast time!

How much money can WBZ possibly be saving by cutting this guy back 2 1/2 hours a week-200 bucks?

There has to be more to this then meets the eye....

I'd almost bet cash US money that it wasn't Peter's decision.

I have worked with Bruce Wall and he's a great guy with his heart in the right place. I doubt WBZ will give Lovell his show back, but you've got to admire Bruce Wall for trying....

My question is, and this comes from a fan of Lovell. Why would he stoop to the level of what they offered him? I mean really, is he that desperate? (doubt it) That 20-25 minutes he has now is just an insult. I for one wish he would get his old slot back, but as someone mentioned, there is probably more to the story.

Either way I hope this finds a way of working itself out.

It's not complicated. The station was told Sat.evenings had to be paid-programming. Lovell had been there for 150 years and it was going to end sometime. Why is it insulting to be offered a 25 min.show? They could have just said goodbye, like they did to other full and part-time talent.

Did Rev.Wall march on Blue Cross after they ended sponsorship of Liz Walker's broadcast?

Surely there is some public land (buffer) between Soldiers Field Road and the CBS property, that people (protesters) can use without trespassing.

A quick check with the State Police barracks down the street ought to solve that.

Or talk to Harvard. Their property surrounds WBZ.

Regardless, being arrested - with cameras rolling - brings the point of the protest back to the front burner, doesn't it?

Mike

I drove by at 7:15 on my way to work. There were six people peacefully assembled on the sidewalk in front of the station, with a cruiser pulled over with a car in front of it (perhaps an unrelated traffic stop.)
