Eagle 106.7 was supposted to protect Kicks, but now we have the 94.9 The Bull

The purpose of Eagle 106.7 was supposedly to "protect" Kicks 101.5. But with Clear Channel maybe taking the building of 94.9 The Bull more seriously with a real morning show (Cletus) and also Classic Country on 96.7 (basically a joke) -- how does this affect Kicks and Eagle ?

Lets see they have been on the year for 13 months, spent 2 million in marketing replaced their morning show and now voice track 9a-12n and 4p-6p oh did I mention their 20th in the market...how does the affect kicks and eagle I would say not so much.

Isn't "Slam" the promotions director?

ha ha ha..."Slam"

Does Kicks & Eagle's combo numbers even break a 5?

WKHX is ripe for the takin'.....has always been a very poor country station. Remember Rocky? Moby?
Jukebox radio will not survive in 2008. KHX has never found the right morning show - Caddy was great in afternoons and is a good personality. Maybe he could even be a great morning personality(in the Scott Slade kinda way)if given the right people to work with. The on air staff is fine.....it's just.....
The station has NO personality. No pazazz.....no showbiz....it's just plain vanilla, generic. Good for background music. May work with PPM.....listeners to background music do not fill out diaries

On the way into work this morning in the 8 o'clock hour heard on Eagle 106.7 .38 Special "Hold On Loosely". I knew they're been flirting with "Southern Rock", but it really sounded out of place.

I agree caller10 and also when I tune in I hear the same old worn out songs that were playing 4 years ago.
It's like Chinese Water torture. Just a couple of minutes on the Eagle does it for me!

I'd like for 106.7 do a kick ass oldies format. ABC Networks even has Scott Shannon's True Oldies they could pick up. Something has gotta give soon. 3 Major Country outlets is too much and they all will be starved for the same $$$.

I seem to recall reading somewhere that the Country Music Radio Format is the one that consistently makes more money than any other in the industry. I know the music side of the biz does it.

What do you mean by tired worn out songs and what do you base this comment on?

I base my comment on what I hear. For instance, last week I got into my car, turned on the radio and there
were the Judds/Grandpa-Good Old Days. It was Eagle 106 and a song I know they've been playing at least
5 or 6 years. From time to time I'll hear "A" Conway tune or "A" song by Earl Thomas Conley, what's up with
that? These guys together probably have over 50-60 number 1 hits but I hear the same one over and
over and over. Don't misunderstand, I'm no expert in music programming, infact, I probably couldn't program
their coffee maker but one thing I do know is what I hear and I hear a lot of repetition.

I've done a little research and think you are misinformed. Between 1/1/07 and 1/11/08 YAY didn't play the Judds/Grandpa-Good Old Days once. regarding repetition during that same period of time YAY played 762 different titles compared to 385 titles on WUBL and 526 titles on WKHX. In addition the top 10 songs played on YAY were Gary Allan/Watching Airplanes, Brad Paisley/Letter to me, Keith Urban/Everybody, Montgomery Gentry/What do you think about that, Sugarland/Stay, Toby Keith/Get my drink on, Rascal Flatts/Winner at a losing game, George Strait/How 'bout them Cowgirls, Alan Jackson/Small Town Southern Man, Rodney Atkins/Cleaning this gun. Those 10 songs were played 430 times. The only time you would ever hear a Conway tune or anything like it would be on Sunday night during their Solid Golf feature. I just wanted to set the record straight regarding the music variety that was in question. The station with the highest repetition at least in this 11 day snapshot was WUBL.

WOW! I'm impressed. To know all this stuff, you must be someone on the "inside". Sorry I insulted your
baby. To quote an earlier post, the station sounds "vanilla" or stale to me. I'm just commenting on what
I hear and as they say in the radio business.......................perception is reality!!!!!
