Eagles/Vikings Sunday Night Football May Also Be Postponed

Those poor Minnesota Vikings. It's bad enough that their stadium was imploded due to heavy snow in Minnesota, and they ended up playing their home game against the New York Giants in Detroit a couple of weeks ago. Now with heavy snow once again in the forecast in Philadelphia for the Eagles' home matchup against the Vikings, there is the possibility that that game may also be postponed, as well, according to a tweet from Greg Aiello from the NFL's public relations department:
http://twitter.com/gregaiello/status/19050988866379776

Could you imagine if they ended up moving the site of tonight's game, too? Then the Minnesota Vikings would truly be the professional football version of the Asheville Tourists.

The site won't move. Maybe, just maybe, it gets postponed, but it won't move.

Charlie Casserley is saying the game has been rescheduled to Tuesday at 8PM

ESPN.COM is reporting the game has been rescheduled for 8:00 PM Tuesday and will air on NBC. Now the question is what will air on NBC tonight. The network had scheduled "Minute to Win It" and a repeat of "Biggest Loser: Where Are They Now" scheduled for Tuesday. I guess it would be easy enough just to air "Football Night in America" and then run the Tuesday night schedule tonight and the game on Tuesday.

7:00 PM ET Football Night in America
8:30 PM ET Minute to Win It
10:00 PM ET Law & Order: SVU

What is your source? NBC.COM still shows the game... so does whdh.com.

http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=5956740

EDIT: My local NBC affiliate says the game will air nationwide on NBC Tuesday, while Minute To Win It and Law and Order SVU will air tonight.

The story on ESPN.COM reflects that. When I was looking this afternoon both the wire stores and my NBC affiliate did not list any schedule changes. I had seen the espn.com story but it did not list what was replacing tonight's game. Only that the game was postponed until Tuesday and would air on NBC.

KPNX in Phoenix had this lineup (all times MT) --

5pm-6:30pm: Football Night in America
6:30pm-7pm: NBC Nightly News (also aired 4:30pm-5pm)
7pm-9pm: Minute to Win It (2 hours, not 90 minutes)
9pm-10pm: Law & Order: SVU

So apparently Eastern/Central got a 90-minute Minute to Win It, while all of Mountain/Pacific got a 2-hour version.

Since Minute to Win it is generally a one-hour show…does anyone know if Mountain/Pacific just got two separate 60-minute episodes (as opposed to a single 90-minute episode?)

Well, WNBC/4 is New York didn't start it until 9 PM due to a special half-hour "Snowmageddon II 2010" show at 8:30 PM. I didn't stick around after the show started, so I couldn't tell you how long that edition was that aired in New York, but based on your information, perhaps NBC affiliates were given the choice of the length of show they could air, given the last-minute "reflex" scheduling, if you will.

According to an article in the Tacoma(Washington) News Tribune, our local NBC affiliate is tape delaying(yes I said tape delaying) the broadcast of the game tomorrow until 8 PM Pacific Time.

This is completely stupid for several reasons, and I would imagine NFL fans will(at least in my opinion) be calling KING 5 TV to get this game for a live broadcast; this is stupid because there's a good chance that the game could be over before the broadcast even begins in the first place.

Also this isn't the first time a Seattle station has tape delayed or did dumb things with sports broadcasts:

There was the time our local CBS station delayed the Daytona 500 to show a Sonics game(this was the year that local resident Derrick Cope won the race)

The many times Seattle's ABC affiliate hasn't aired 9 AM ABC college football games

And of course KOMO 4 delaying Monday Night Football for an hour to show local news

Not to mention KING 5 bumping the NBC Stanley Cup Finals broadcasts to KONG TV(their sister station) because KING wanted to air local news and because they assumed more people wanted to watch CBC's broadcasts(which are available on Cable here).

Is this happening in any other market or is just something happening in Seattle-Tacoma?

WCAU NBC 10 aired the folllowing

7:00 PM ET Football Night in America
8:30 PM ET Minute to Win It (joined in progress, I guess they were showing 2 hour long episodes and joined the first episode in progress)
10:00 PM ET Law & Order: SVU.

I think I found the article you're referring to:

However, according to the following page on KING 5's Web site (that's the affiliate in question, correct?), they will air the game live beginning at 5pm Pacific:

Yep, I was just going to post that article actually, or a link to it; yes that is the affiliate in question and i'm glad they came to their senses.

If KING 5 had gone through with their original plan of delaying it until 8 PM, they would have had some serious questions to answer from local NFL fans.

Not to mention the network itself. Bumping the low-rated Stanley Cup Finals is one thing, but bumping the network's cash cow is another.

True and I forgot about the network; I wouldn't mind knowing who called the Tacoma News Tribune in the first place saying the game was going to be a delayed broadcast.

Of course if they had delayed it until 8 PM i wouldn't have been surprised, considering Seattle stations have done some dumb things with sports on TV in the past, as I mentioned in another post in this thread.

How did ABC put up with KOMO delaying MNF for 2 1/2 decades?
