Eagles/Vikings Sunday Night Football May Also Be Postponed

Did KING-5 roll the Winter Olympics in tape delay mode like the rest of the Pacific Time Zone despite the games being pretty much in their backyard?

According to an article in the Tacoma(Washington) News Tribune, our local NBC affiliate is tape delaying(yes I said tape delaying) the broadcast of the game tomorrow until 8 PM Pacific Time.

I think I found the article you're referring to:

http://www.thenewstribune.com/2010/12/27/1479416/are-you-ready-for-some-tuesday.html

However, according to the following page on KING 5's Web site (that's the affiliate in question, correct?), they will air the game live beginning at 5pm Pacific:

http://www.king5.com/home/Delayed-NFL-game-shuffles-KING-5-programming-Tuesday-112518109.html

Yep, I was just going to post that article actually, or a link to it; yes that is the affiliate in question and i'm glad they came to their senses.

If KING 5 had gone through with their original plan of delaying it until 8 PM, they would have had some serious questions to answer from local NFL fans.

Not to mention the network itself. Bumping the low-rated Stanley Cup Finals is one thing, but bumping the network's cash cow is another.

How did ABC put up with KOMO delaying MNF for 2 1/2 decades?

Good question, and according to wikipedia(I don't know if this is correct or not), KATU in Portland Oregon also delayed MNF for an hour; although it seemed like the only times they didn't delay the game was whenever the Seahawks played(or at least it seemed like that to me).

As for how ABC put up with KOMO for delaying MNF for an hour, I have no idea how they put up with that; but it was very annoying to a lot of people in the Seattle area until they stopped it for the last few years of MNF being on ABC.

Believe it or not I think they did; I remember everyone being very ticked off about that even though Vancouver is about 150-200 miles away from Seattle and you would think KING 5 would air the events live when the Olympics were that close.

I think they aired the events on weekends live though as I recall; the worst part about it was that CBC(whose Vancouver affiliate is carried on Cable TV in Western Washington) lost the Olympics rights in Canada to CTV I think(who is not carried on cable TV in this area), so even though the Olympics were in our backyard, KING 5 still didn't air them live.

Outgoing PA Gov. Ed "I am not a wuss" Rendell did a live one-on-one (from the
Favres/Eagles game site) with Brian Williams on NBC Nightly News tonight.

Was Rendell wearing a Kabletown Comcast windbreaker? :D

The guv obviously said that w/o his PR people around and as a Mon Morn quarterback. IF the game had been played Sun nite there was a distinct possiblity of an accident or out of control car on one of the highways; Maybe that would have clogged up the highway. LOTS of people would have to spend the entire nite in their vehicles, some w/o food, water, meds etc. Look what recently happened in Buffalo NY.
If THAT scenario took place would the gov would have questioned the wisdom of having played the game on Sun nite? Who would have been the first to criticize the NFL? Would the mayor of philly have taken an unfair hit? Was the game postponed so that the powers that be could hit up the Penn/Philly taxpayers for a new stadium?
Unf$$$ believeable.
As a viewer I would have loved to see the game played Sun; but I sure wouldn't have wanted to be in traffic after the game.

And unless you had a gray-market sub to a Canadian service, Americans too far from the border only had NBC and its ilk for Olympics coverage, where they set it up more as the world's largest reality show than a sports tournament.
