East Valley Radio Network returns Sept. 8th to KAZG-AM

On Monday September 8th, East Valley Radio Network returns to the air on 1440 KAZG-AM weekdays from 3-6pm.

As it did last year during its first run on KAZG, East Valley Radio Network will focus 100% on newsmaker interviews, entertainment, high school sports info, business profiles and events happening in the in the 17 communities that comprise the East Valley.

Host Scott Anderson says that while last year's run received a lot of positive response from the press and listeners, EVRN did not mount an effective sales effort to continue the project past the four months it ran. That has been remedied, and they have expanded the time slot from 2 to 3 hours. Anderson believes that in an era of ever-increasing media advertising costs, taking a geographic focus vs. a demographic Valley-wide approach will keep costs down for advertisers and make radio more affordable for smaller businesses.

You can reach Scott Anderson at 480-227-4472.

In November, December and January, will you stay on
until 6:00 with the gargantuan 52-watt "lowtorch?" ;D

And in October, can you do Gumpdusky a favor? At the
very end of the show--5:59:55 or so--just before you
close the mic, say "KAZG Scottsdale." Of course we'll
need the lamptimer to cooperate too. ;)

The plan is to move the show back an hour during the earlier sundown months. We'll go with the flow.

We already have our Legal ID's recorded and in our automation at the top of the hour.

KAZG's problem is not the TOH ID during the course of the broadcast day,
it's the lack of one at sign-on and sign-off.

Also, you may be chopped off in mid-sentence during October by the
"Drift Away" model lamptimer.

YIKES! Is it possible soon the Valley will have only one station left playing music on Ancient Modulation? Gumpdusky could make some $$ with Lumberyard 14~Forty if they'd can the worn out oldies and start selling the time. In fact, Nurse Jeff and I bet they'd make enough to keep the station on at night!

They would have to find another watt or two if they are to cover the East Valley at night. Can't get 'em down here in the flatlands of Tempe but KOOL Listener Lauren reports 5-by reception over in Nawth Glendale.

"High School Radio"? Nice idea!!! They could make appearances at the Saturday evening car meet at The Pavilions too......oh, wait.....they'd have to have some personnel, right?

Hey, Landtuna, I have been to the car show at the Pavilions a bunch of times, and if it happened on a weekday, I'd do a remote from there. That is a great gathering.

I agree adman. Unfortunately, there are a lot of people bringing cars from up north and down south to the Pavilions and doubt it would be doable on a weeknight. Saturday sure draws a crowd though. An AM Oldies remote would be the topping on the cake and could be huge for the Lumberyard if it ever decided to become the "new" "old" AM.

For anyone who doesn't know about this weekly informal get together, the Pavilions is a strip mall at the NW corner of the Loop 101 and Indian Bend in Snottsdale. The cars line up in rows next to the McDonalds. There are sometimes bikes there too and oldies blare from loudspeakers atop the McDonalds building. No admission and it's family friendly.

There is also a YC's Mongolian Grill onsite which is one of my favorite places. Great way to spend a cheap night.

Maybe Gumpdusky could use McDonald's power strip and fire up a carrier current signal that would radiate through the parking lot lights. That way Oldies Fans could hear Lumberyard 14~Forty after the sun sets. Of course they'd have to pay off the DJ who is currently spinning the stacks of wax and doin' a pretty good job of it!
