Ebersol Resigns From NBC Sports Group post; Mark Lazarus Moves Up To Chairman

Officially, he resigned as a result of a contract dispute with Comcast. However, this certainly fuels a ton of speculation over the future of the Olympics TV rights. Speaking of which, the IOC head was assured that Comcast/NBC is still in the bidding for 2014 and 2016.

What do we know about Mark Lazarus, named his replacement? Would we expect any changes in terms of what sports is presented on NBC?

I blame Leno. :D

I guess this means the rebranding of Versus and the CSN networks is still on?

The NBC Nightly News will do a long-winded human interest story about Dick Ebersol and the kinds of food establishments he eats at in his host city. Of course, only the East Coast will see it live.

And my granddad. He "retired" at 64 but couldn't stand not being productive all day. So he went down to the local university in town, talked to a couple professors and got hired on later that month. He then taught business classes for the next 10 years. I'm sure there are a lot of people in a similar situation that don't need to work, but just want to.

I blame Susan Saint James. ;D

I blame Jane Curtin. ::)

Your probably right, Curtin won two Emmys for "Kate & Allie," while "Saint James" was nominated three times and lost all three times. (I think in Saint James, won an Emmy for something else though) And Curtin went on to another successful series "3rd Rock From The Son."

Ebersol was probably all like, "Why can't you be more like Jane Curtin?"
