Ed Stoltz buys into the Las Vegas radio market.

Ed Stoltz former owner of 106.5 KWOD-FM Sacramento, CA. has bought stations (Country Legends becoming sports 790 but that is most likely up in the air now) KBET 790 AM and KCYE-FM 104.3 in Las Vegas, Nevada licensed to Bolder City, NV. from Beasley Broadcasting. The KCYE calls and country format will move to Beasley owned KFRH-FM 102.7, while the KFRH calls move to 104.3 along with the "NOW" format. 104.3 is a full class C signal. So there goes the bankroll from the sale of KWOD to Entercom. The sale should close sometime in the third quarter of 2009. The name of Ed's new company is Silver State Broadcasting. All of this subject to FCC approval. If you work for Beasley at 104.3 time to jump off the ship if you know what I mean and what is good for you.

Gee, you'd think Ed would have bought KSTN AM and FM. shudder shudder shudder,,,,,,,to think out loud.

I feel for those employees.

20 bucks says that Ed tries to sue Beasley for some nonsense like not buying the rest of the cluster for the same price?

Ed...Entercom is on Line 2, and would like to ask if you are interested in selling your Vegas stations already.

Newsperson responds:

I would have liked to have been the broker in this deal. I'm sure Ed will spend a lot on money on lawyers to get this deal through.

Being that jobs are tough to find these days he will probally have a lot of willing applicants.

Anyone want to move to Las Vegas and work for Ed?

I will look for your replies.

Is his last name Stoltz? I always thought it was Stolz?

Newsperson responds:

This is now a comp sale for values of stations in the Las Vegas market. Since Ed was forced kicking and screaming to take the money from the sale of KWOD he needed to finally spend it.

A full class C FM say for 12 million and a medium power AM for 3 million.

It looks like this was all done on the corporate level and the market manager did not even know about the pending sale. He was just quoted as saying he was slowly turning KBET into an all sports station.

What a surprise to him and all of us.

Re: Ed Stoltz buys into the Las Vegas AND NOW SF radio market.

In case this has slid by, Ed Stoltz has now purchased the Alameda/SF 92.7, now "Energy", once KJAZ. Sale was forced by the lender.

Anyone think ol Ed would consider rebuilding "KKSF" on his new 92.7FM? It was once K-JAZZ! ;)

Uh, no Greg. It didn't make any money. That's why they changed. Too old a demographic.

Wasn't the original owner of KJAZ forced to sell his station? I believe Amador Bustos bought it (as Z Spanish Radio Network) and changed it to Regional Mexican Music in 1994 as KZSF?
