Eddie Edwards Oct. 5 Announcement on buying radio station

Come on. Who in there right mind will buy a AM station with a 105.5 translator that no one can get. Your not making no sense what so ever. So I won't bother.

While Steel City has been in a struggle with 92.9--they know the value of that signal. It's a grandfathered class"C" and maybe one of the 2 or 3 best FM signals in the market.
If they sell--it wouldn't be cheap.

The thing that amazes me is that this man Eddie Edwards has the money to just go out and buy a radio station like we would go to Giant Eagle and just buy a gallon of milk and he bought sometime in so little amount of time. I am naive in how much a radio station costs but how many millions is it to buy a radio station, say an FM in Pittsburgh?

105.5 covers downtown and the hill well, and gets as far as South Hills Village and McKnight road. It would be OK, not an optimum solution, but I will bet you $1 million that he will not but 92.9, 104.3 or any other big-signal FM.

For once I agree with Partimer completely. I'd be in shock if anybody bought a major FM station this fast.

Good Point Snafu, but the question is: What CC station would be the first to go? 94.5? 105.9? Most likely not 96.1 or 104.7.

96.1 has no play-by-play contracts with any sports teams (all of their other properties do). It would be the easiest ot sell if CC were so inclined.

What is the difference between a "repeater" and a LPFM ? Is there any aside from usage?

The terms of the license are different. A repeater can't originate its own programming and is designed to fill in the blanks in signal coverage.

LPFM can have its own unique content and is designed to specifically serve a small community. to my knowledge those license can not be used as repeaters.
