So, 96-9 is dance music on one side of town and oldies on the other? Should be fun when the atmospheric conditions kick in. Gonna scare some old folks looking for Crystal Gayle and finding The Crystal Method...
LP FM isn't really affected by atmospheric conditions, is it? I've never heard an LP FM station coming in during tropo, e-skip, or anything. I think this is due to LP FM's limited power and height.
Either way you did have a point after all, Purple. It would seem this co-channel format division in SA wasn't lost with San Antonio Public Safety Alliance. EDM is off the air in town for now, as they have flipped KXTJ-LP again. This time the format seems to be a rather broad mix of classic hits, oldies, and some disco. It's now branded as "Oldies 96-9", according to the liner I heard earlier.
I think it makes sense to do this, though, with KPPC sharing the channel and playing the same stuff.
Both stations are good stations, and I didn't notice any audio problems earlyer when checking them out.
I still like EDM though, and hope that perhaps someone else gives the format a try. But would it work well in San Antonio on a full-power stick? That's the question.
