ABC chair's comments on Joe Rogan spark response from podcast king and world's richest man

Joe Rogan and Elon Musk have responded to comments made by the ABC's chair, Kim Williams, with the billionaire comparing the ABC to Russian state media.

With the caption "LOL WUT", Rogan reposted a clip on social media platform X of the ABC chair criticising him during an appearance at the National Press Club on Wednesday.

Hours later Mr Musk weighed in, comparing the ABC to Russian state media in a separate post on X.

"From the head of Australian government-funded media, their Pravda," he wrote.

Pravda, which translates to "truth", was the official newspaper of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union.

Elon Musk rants about ABC Australia being Compared to Pravda. But ABC Australia is viewed as public media. Again the stuff ABC Chairperson Kim Williams said was directed at Joe Rogan and his op-ed on him. Also we went through this before when Elon Musk put a tag saying NPR is "State Media" that resulted with NPR, PBS and their affiliates boycotting X and moving their profile over to Meta Owned places like Threads.

They did not boycotted X, lol. They are still on X but started a account on Blue sky. I doubt they will ever delete their X account.

To people overseas, it doesn't sound like much. However, as an Australian, it was big news. He is bascally calling then out incouraging misinformation. Australia's media is a very concentrated industry. Around 80% of our newspapers are run by NewsCorp, as is the local Pay TV operator. Our commercial TV news is viewed as right leaning too. So for someone from the ABC to call out misinformation, it was always going to be reported.
