EMF Expands In Canton, OH With $850K Purchase Of WNPQ.

Educational Media Foundation is spending $850,000 to expand its presence in northeast Ohio. The Christian broadcaster has signed a deal to buy contemporary Christian “The Light 95.9” WNPQ New Philadelphia from Tuscarawas Broadcasting Co.

The station gets EMF into the Canton market from the south with a 4,100 Class A signal licensed to New Philadelphia. About the closest EMF gets to Canton now is with contemporary Christian “K-Love” affiliate WKWO, a 2,200 watt Class A licensed to Wooster, about 33 miles to the west of Canton.

WNPQ will be the EMF affiliate in the Canton area.

Again, folks: highly profitable radio stations rarely get sold. A very challenging ad revenue environment....and that was before covid19.

WNPQ's afternoon host is moving to mornings as of Jan 1st pending the sale to close with EMF. I have a feeling we'll see FCC action on this one and EMF having control of WNPQ by the spring.

As of 3/14/22 95.9 WNPQ has flipped to KLove. I was in NE Ohio today and noticed KLove on air and just checked WNPQ's old Facebook page and they announced on 3/14 that EMF had taken over.
