Emmett Whitehead owner of KWRW/KTLU Rusk passed away

I read on the FCC daily digest that both KWRW and KTLU have been transferred to Marie Whitehead, Executrix. I guess Mr. Whitehead passed away.

Maybe they have been tied up in Probate, for it to have used the term "Executrix". It wouldnt suprise me as slow as the Texas legal system is.

The application for involuntary transfer is currently missing from the application list in the FCC database, for some unknown reason. But in reading it a while back I noticed a statement to the effect that Mrs. Whitehead had been unaware of the need to file the necessary documents.

I'm guessing that Emmett Whitehead's will was contested by members of his family and others for the usual reasons.

The radio stations were part of his estate, and if several or more people make separate challenges it can take years for the Probate Court to settle the disputes and allow the executor to carry out the terms of the will.

Apparently, things have finally been resolved to the point where the FCC could transfer the radio licenses to Whitehead's widow.
