Enjoy five more years of "MAAAAAAAAAN...TOWN!"

When will Entercom get a clue and get rid of Greg Hill and his HUGE ego? HE IS HORRIBLE! Most people cant stand him and only listen to the show for Danielle, Spaz, Kev and LB. The station has been going downhill for years which is too bad as it was awesome back in the day. Mike Hsu and weekender Bob Hannah are the only ones who actually make listening worth while. And speaking of horrible when is Carrie's contract up? her voice, and same content day after day after day makes her show so very painful to listen to...I cant think of one person who likes her show and it looks like most people dont looking at her numbers. TIME TO BLOW WHAT IS CURRENTLY WAAF UP AND RECONFIGURE IT BACK TO ITS FORMER GLORY AND MAKE IT ONCE AGAIN THE ACTIVE ROCK STATION IT SHOULD BE!!!

Entercom's not the one who needs a clue. You don't blow up a consistent top-5-in-their-demo station based on your personal tastes.

Did I mention radio is a business?

Greg Hill does a "phenomenal" (to use one of his words) job on his show. Its funny, does a lot for charity, and hyper-local. Spaz can be annoying, but thats his role. As for the music on WAAF for the rest of the day....that's another topic.

Then why did CBS blow up WBCN for the Sports Hub?

...Because it wasn't top 5 in its demo, the money wasn't there, and obviously, a second sports station in Boston was a much better idea... a bigger biller, a bigger promotions machine. BCN was a shell of it's heyday. I'm not the biggest Greg Hill fan, but I don't buy into the WAAF haterade on this board... I think it's an excellent station.

The hate is because it's the only rock radio station with jocks left.

You want me to go back and find a computer print-out from over 3 years ago? I don't have it anymore. If the money was there, the station would be here.

Arbitron, April 2009, 6A-12M, Men 18-49.

WAAF:  Tied for 2nd
WBCN:  Tied for 12th.

By July 2009 (the last book in which WBCN appears), they had dropped to 15th.

It would be nice if you be so kind as to provide us all with a link...Oh, wait...You just pulled those figures out of the air

But here's the May '12 Arbitron Overall AQH...Probably not the best example, but still...Sure, they're on there...You just have to scroll down somewhat...

But if you think that the figures for WAAF are still profitable (which by the way, I haven't seen a link), then you go ahead and enjoy MAAAAAAAAAAAAAAN TOWN...Or the new Morning Hole that they have doing news, and I'm sure that they still do Looney Tune Tuesday...Oh, that's a loff

If CBS had waited until PPM kicked in, they'd have had a better idea of WBCN's health. But, they jumped the gun. Same way Entercom stood back, and let CBS beat them to the FM Sports lane.

Poor decisions made by upper management hurt the product, and market. They set back revenues, while the company scrambles to invest half-baked pseudo marketing to re-brand. It appears as if nobody in Boston has considered a perceptual. Perceptuals cost money. And nobody is spending money. They'd rather throw darts, and hope. Which costs less? Asking what (if any) market hole exists? Or, chasing the same dollar that someone else already has locked up?

Staying with the actual topic, Greg has done a fantastic job of endearing himself perceptually to the local sports teams. He also understands the importance of good client-relations. Like any good show-QB, he's surrounded himself with a supporting cast that connects with subdivisions of the audience. There's so much more to what goes on than just cracking the mic.

Anyone who's going to survive long-term, needs to understand the *other* elements of their position that can make one fiscally valuable to a station. Greg has done this. Time & time again. What *you* believe he may lack in quick-wit, or individual creativity, is compensated by one, simple, fact.

He knows how to make money for the station. And, when it's all said & done, right or wrong, that's the gig.

You may not be a fan. But, until you can say you were in one morning gig for 20 years, in one of America's toughest radio markets, your criticism just comes off as sour grapes.

Full disclosure: I'm not a fan at all. But, I respect what the guy has been able to do. Good for him.

It would be nice if you knew what you were talking about.

My figures come directly from Arbitron because my company is a subscriber, and you know perfectly well if you've been here for more than five minutes that actual share figures can't be posted in public.

Before you make a fool of yourself again, ask instead of assuming.

Oh boy, an Opie and Anthony fan making fun of Greg Hill. This has never been done before. Jocktober is my favorite bit, too.
