Entercom’s WIP-FM And The Philadelphia Phillies Extend Broadcast Agreement.
Entercom sports “SportsRadio 94.1” WIP-FM Philadelphia has signed a multi-year broadcast extension with the Philadelphia Phillies. “We’re eagerly awaiting the return of Phillies baseball,” Senior VP/Market Manager David Yadgaroff said.
Entercom sports “SportsRadio 94.1” WIP-FM Philadelphia has signed a multi-year broadcast extension with the Philadelphia Phillies. The previous three-year deal between the team and former station owner CBS Radio extended through 2019. The two parties were negotiating a new contract last spring when the COVID-19 pandemic hit, forcing both the Phillies and WIP-FM to focus on internal issues, the Philadelphia Business Journal reports. The team and the station continued their partnership for the abbreviated 2020 MLB season under terms of the previous contract.
An official announcement is forthcoming. However, Entercom Senior VP/Market Manager David Yadgaroff released a statement to the Business Journal that read, “We’re eagerly awaiting the return of Phillies baseball and are happy to announce a new broadcast extension with the club.”
Entercom predecessor CBS Radio enjoyed a long relationship with the team, with games broadcast on WPHT (1210) for years. A simulcast on WIP-FM began in 2012, with games moving fully to the FM signal in 2016.
