Entercom to acquire KSWD "The Sound" to satisfy Dept. of Justice

Now, run, don't walk, and tell the moderator.

Didn't have to. He already took action before I even came on just now to see what predictable responses there were from the people who dislike me so much.

Ahem.

http://www.allaccess.com/net-news/a...com-bonneville-to-start-running-their-new-sta

Entercom has closed the deal for the Lincoln Financial Media stations. TBAs with Bonneville for KSWD start tomorrow. Reciprocal TBAs for Bonneville to operate the four Denver stations involved also start tomorrow.

FCC still has to approve the station transfers, but given DOJ's sign-off that seems to be a formality, and I am guessing all the signatures in the lawyers' offices have been affixed.

48 hours after the swap, the Nurse and I continue to feel Bonneville got the better end of the deal. While David Field claims to be happy in el Lay, bottomline: he's got but one station.. Bonneville now has four in Denver. Bet they're ecstatic!

And $5 million of Entercom's money on top of those Denver stations once that part of the deal gets FCC approval and is consummated.

They, Bonneville will need that $5million to bring the Denver facility and transmitter sites up to Bonneville standards. I feel sorry for the KSWD equipment.

Bonneville treats their equipment (and people) quite well. Just axe the old-timers at KOIT if they'd like Bonneville to buy them back. (hmmmm...isn't that a rhetorical question posed by Los Buckeye Boyz?)

For all the worry about Entercom taking over KSWD, it's a pretty good company. The Fields are good people, though they're certainly business people first and foremost. Don't expect a lot of fringe benefits, but, if you take care of them, they'll take care of you.

Bonneville is also a good company. Of course, if you look hard enough, you can find something to complain about. People have often griped about that company's health plan, though I suspect the salespeople in Denver will have the most to lose since they'll lose those casino accounts.

All things considered, everybody's getting a pretty good deal. I can think of a few companies that would be far worse, and it's entirely possible they called and inquired.

Question for the P1 listeners to KSWD:
3 weeks into the new ownership has anything changed with their on-air sound?
