Entertainment Weekly/TV Land's 50 greatest TV icons

The Associated Press has announced Entertainment Weekly/
TV Land's picks as the top 50 TV icons, as per the special
airing tomorrow night at 8 (Eastern). Those of you who are
planning to watch the show should skip this, although you will
have a chance to vote for your choice for number one via
text-messaging, with the audience's choice revealed at the end.

I can't see how Carson beat out Lucy, but what I really
don't understand is where are the two Jameses: Arness
and Garner? And I'd put Raymond Burr on this list, too.
 
Why did they omit Red Skelton and Danny Thomas? How about Elizabeth Montgomery, Barbara Eden and Betty White? And since Homer Simpson is on the list, why no mention of The Flintstones or Rocky and Bullwinkle and other cartoon TV characters?

I don't think that many of the stars of this present century like Simon Cowell should have been mentioned since they are talking about "The Greatest Icons Of All Time" which should be from TV's past and I can count at least 10 from present day on here. Simon Cowell is no more an icon than Ryan Seacrest is.
