Entire City of New Orleans to Be Evacuated

No one is saying anything about Radio, So I suspect NOT many stations are on air or the worse has happened, except WWL AM 870 which seems to be on... I know in the video ive seen here in Ohio on the web, there have been many shots of tower sites under water, so I assume many are off air. (speically if the 9ft of water in New Orleans happens as supsected.... There are a few tower sites according to maps ive seen that are in the bowl.

I saw where WWL is running at half-power, which would be 25kw. That

WWL sounded fine tonight. I live in Nashville TN and could pick it up very well.

I don't know if they're using an emergency generator or if they still have power; But they were doing what I would call bare bones broadcasting. I heard no pre-recorded legal IDs or spots like I was hearing last night. I just heard the on-air staff and the phone callers.

Seems like the other Entercom's are simmulcasting with WWL. At the top of the hour they mention "This is WWL and the Entercom Family Of Radio Stations"<P ID="signature">______________

"Entire City of New Orleans to Be Evacuated" Including WWL. E-mail I just saw from Entercom indicates that WWL is moving most likely to the EOC (Emergency Operations Center) in New Orleans. It will be one of the few places still above water when Lake Pontchartrain finishes filling up the city. Most every other station still on will probably do the same.

WWL is on generator. There is no power anywhere.

BTW, it was explaned by a Army Corp of Engineers spokeman this evening (on CNN or FOX) that when the Lake Pontchartrain level drops 2 feet BELOW the water level IN THE CITY they will start trying to pump the water out.

WWL as of 11pm eastern was broadcsating from the highrise studios near the superdome, but ofcourse this will probally change. They did not run any ids at the TOH so I assume their runing barebones.

WWL TV has studios at the transmitter site and also in Baton Rouge, I have been watching their webstreaming which is being bounced out of Houston Texas. They wraped up local coverage from the Transmitter site for the nite and currently are running CNN Feed (I assume being fed out of Houston as I saw commericals for Cox Cable Community events -- so it cant be a satellite CNN feed) I assume the transmitter is being fed via Satellite from a uplink at Houston's Channel 11. (my best guess)

WDSU is currently broadcasting from WESH in Orlando FL, they wraped up their "live" jackson Ms coverage for the nite. I assume their sending a satellite feed directly to the Transmitter site, by way of WESH in Orlando. (my best guess)

WWL TV and WDSU are still running live (very decent quality) video feeds from their websites)

Dont know about the rest of New Orleans radio.

Cox is New Orleans' cable system -- most Houstonians get their cable from Time Warner.
