Es to Arizona 5/13/13 First opening of the year

Had some low FM E-skip today to Arizona, 5/13.

4:05PM - 91.5 KJZZ Phoenix, AZ with mention of the "Blackstone Country Club" in Peoria, AZ (supported contributions). Then into NPR news at good levels. Relog.

4:12PM - 93.7 KRQQ Tucson, AZ with "KRQ" ID and "Stay" by Rihanna. Relog.

4:17PM - 89.9 KZAI Superior, AZ; Air 1 // KWAO, relog.

UNIDs
91.9 with Regional Mexican. I think this is KOHN Sells, AZ (would be new) but not confirmed.
90.5 classical, likely KUAT Tucson (would be new), not confirmed.

Will update if it comes back!

Grundig G8 with just the telescopic whip. It works great.

Nice catches, crainbebo! Wouldn't be kinda neat, if we'd be able to log some of the same stations, this season? 8)

Really quiet my way, at the moment (even my usual fringe favourite/barometer, 91.1 CJRT JAZZ91 @ 196 miles is struggling tonight). But I see there's some activity, just west of the Great lakes, so hopefully that'll come my way with the warmer weather tomorrow.

I'm listening to my radio now..

Have you ever had any Skips from San Francisco on the FM Dial?

I had KALW 91.7, KUFX 98.5 (K-FOX) and the 87.7 KBKF K-LOVE during an E-skip opening on 8/2/12. It was unexpected. I was on a walk around Bellevue (the Mercer Slough), and was listening to the scratchy KVTI 90.9 signal (classical), but was getting chewed up by another signal. As I tuned to 91.7, I heard the top of the hour ID "This is KALW, San Francisco, 91.7 FM" clear as day. I also received a tentative KWAV 96.9 Monterrey that night (Delilah station mixing with KGY).

No skip right now, the map is completely dead-band. Maybe in the next few days. Es is just getting fueled up!
