ESPN 98.7 FM to be no more come August 31, 2024

This is when I wish I had a spare $50 million. I'd have bought it under the LLC "Thor Odinsson Family Evangelical Cat Rescue and Biergarten Society Broadcasting Consortium" just to watch people twist themselves into knots speculating what the future format would be, and then stunting with "99 Luftballons" mixed with "99 bottles of beer on the wall" and "99 Problems (But this format ain't one)".
Not to mention Barns Courtney's "99" - which has two versions; just keep alternating them!

And congratulations on achieving post 800. Just 200 more to go....

Since everyone signed an NDA?

You don't jeopardize your access (or your employment) by running to a bunch of message board geeks with information not to be shared with the public.
Who said you post it here. The whole news media is full of “unnamed sources”. Where so you think that information comes from.

Look, Inside Radio has an article today showing station sales in the first half of the year totaled $60 million.

Asking price for 98.7 started at $50 million. Ain't no way they're getting near that. There are interested parties, but buyers and sellers don't negotiate through the media, and they damn sure don't invite the general public to stick their noses in their business. When this sells, look for it to be closer to $25 to $30 million. Maybe a few bucks more, but stations aren't selling like hotcakes anymore. It will more than likely be an NCE or minority broadcaster, so deal with it.

It's fun to speculate, but Lance said a while back the announcement, when it came, would be close to the end of the LMA. I'd be shocked if it wasn't after Labor Day, frankly, but I'm not involved, I don't have any money in it, and frankly, I'm not going to lose sleep over it, so why are you? Everybody take a chill pill and wait for the announcement one day on RadioInsight.com. That's what I do.

There will be an announcement. Be patient.

Don't waste time with what ifs.

As I said earlier in this thread, Merlin announced on Oct 8 that they sold 101 to CBS, and CBS took over on Nov 1.

I expect an announcement will come around Aug 12.
On average how long in advance does a station need to flip formats. Advertising wise and marketing. If a deal comes in late with a buyer can they do a quick flip and be successful.

Yes. And then those sources are quoted in stories which are written for, and published in, trade publications, when there's new information to report.

Swing your partner, do-se-do! Round and round we go!

They can't really sell advertising until they have documented ratings. That takes several months.

You're assuming the buyer will be running commercials.
