ESPN Deportes on 92.5 in Austin is replaced by another K-LOVE repeater

The story left out KMLR 106.3 Gonzales which does K-KLOVE for San Marcos and the south part of the Austin metro. So now we have 4.

The story also mentions 1530 being sold to the owner of Austin's 95.1 translator but neglects to mention that the translator has been off the air for months.

My gosh, we really are going to need a program to figure out all the players! I sure hope 98.9 survives this mess, they were starting to sound more than a bit listenable.

How can any station grow an audience when the format changes five or six times a year?

Odd that EMF's Air1 format isn't in the market yet, although I can pick up the KZAR 97.7 signal when I'm in the Austin area. Perhaps EMF is satisfied with its coverage for now.

I thought the same thing. However, it made a bit more sense when I looked at the coverage areas of the 4 K-Love stations and found that, even together, they don't a city grade all of Austin. So, I can kind of see what they're doing.

The deal for EMF to acquire 92.5 includes a balloon payment if they can successfully move to the main tower farm like they were trying to do a year or two ago. I suspect Air-1 will find itself on the other frequencies doing K-Love if 92.5 can upgrade. I remember they were trying to move it to 92.7 and change the COL. I don't see that CP pending, but I'd guess it's still a goal.

What will happen to 98.9? I hope it stays a float. I will have to go back listening to music online which sounds way too compressed.

Hopefully Entercom will acquire it, and the format stays right where it is.

We'll have to wait and see, but I was thinking Entercom was the most logical buyer for 98.9 and, possibly, even 104.9.

Plus with KKMJ-HD2 doing oldies, and the fact the once owned 104.9

Not to mention it would be a move across the street as both are in West Lake Hills. Then again their offices could stay the same.

95.5 and 104.9 have, to the best of my knowledge, never been co-owned. 95.5 and 104.3 were co-owned by CBS and then Entercom before 104.3 was divested to Univision. Maybe you are thinking of that? It gets confusing since both 104.3 and 104.9 have both been The Beat in the past decade.

Also, if Entercom does acquire one or both stations from BMP, it would definitely consolidate into one location as soon as possible.
