ESPN Radio Find A New Home for Tallahassee Florida

You're correct about the translator, Mark.

That translator operates from the tower at North Florida Christian School/Baptist Church at the corner of Meridian and Henderson Road. That is pretty close to the Tallahassee Mall.

I'm able to pick up 97.9 clearly on a Walkman. I'm in east Leon County, on the same side of town as the WTSM tower.

I work at the 2900 block of Aplachee Parkway and on my walkman and my radio in my office. Star 98.9 is kicking into 97.9 FM dail. and the singal of 97.9 is kind of weak inside the office. In my SUV my radio is fine on 97.9 loud and clear. 97.9 doesnt seem to have a very good storng singal with 6,000 watts.

Louis,

How many FM stations can you receive in the office? Just curious.

We used to have trouble picking up a lot of the stations when I used to work for Agency for Health Care Administration on Mahan Drive.

Nice to see that there's a new station in town... I can barely pick it up on my Zune; no dice with my alarm clock radio and my phone... on the west side of town

I can pick up all the Clear Channel and Cumlus stations in the office dont worry Alan my radio is fine. Its seem like 97.9 singal inside the office is not as storng as they used to be when they 1st came out as they were smooth jazz.

WTSM does not appear to have a 70dbu (city grade) signal over Tallahassee although it has an impressive 60dbu over the entire market. The problem, as I see it, is the tower is located Southeast of Tallahassee proper, possibly due to a site restriction in order to protect first adjacent WYYX-FM 97.7 C1 Bonifay (Panama City). WYYX and WSTM are required to clear tower-to-tower by approximately 80-miles or 133-kilometers, so this may be the reason WTSM's tower is located at it's present site.

Mark is correct...WTSM is pretty much at it's maximum capacity in the Tallahassee market unless some creative directional antenna pattern could be made to better serve the market. That being said, we have improved the audio processing considerably in the past week...so, hopefully that will help cut through the static. I'd love to hear from some listeners if it has made any difference.

I hope we can get 97.9 singal clean out soon I will let u know (down the road) around Jan. 2011. if they any changes. Still right now around town still kind of weak singal around Tallahassee as I set it to DX part then I hread Star 98.9 on the 97.9 fm dail. in the office (i mean).
