ESPN Radio's Jeremy Green arrested for kiddie porn

http://www.cleveland.com/ohio-sports-blog/index.ssf/2010/07/former_browns_exec_current_esp.html

God, I do not feel sorry at all for Green. He was so obnoxious with Freddie Coleman on Sundays during NFL season, actually mocking the fans of bad teams, as if the fans had some sort of control over who their team drafted/signed. "Sorry Cleveland, you suck again." "It's the Kansas City Chiefs, you honestly thought they had a prayer today?"

Don't drop the soap, Jeremy, they just LOVE kiddie pervs like you in prison.

To the contrary, I DO feel a little sorry for Jeremy Green, and not for some throwaway sports takes. (Hold a grudge much?)

Green took a forced removal (first indicated to be a temporary leave) from his 'Football Today' podcast for undisclosed health reasons--probably for substance abuse issues he's in legal trouble with now. Plus he often referenced a few marital problems in self-jest on the show.

There's no defending the child pornography other than to note that its indicative of a larger sickness. Combined with the drug abuse, it's clear the man has some demons he couldn't settle on his own, nor could he settle them in time. Green's now got family and friends who are embarrassed, including his own children who probably won't be seeing him as a free man anytime soon.

Jeremy Green isn't entitled to your pity by any means. But to laugh at his situation (behind the vehicle of sports takes you didn't like?) seems mighty, mighty small. Here's hoping your glass house is spotless.

Actually, if it was drug abuse, that just raises my contempt for him even more. Green was exposed to the same "Just say no to drugs" and "D.A.R.E. to be drug free" commercials that we all were, and for him to choose to ignore those warnings and choose to put harmful substances in his body just makes me view him as even more pathetic.

Seriously? I can't believe that's your simplistic take. By your logic, much of the criminal activity today can be traced to public indifference toward McGruff the Crime Dog.

Presumed innocent until proven guilty by a jury of his peers.

Sound familiar?

I'm not defending anyone who is involved in the exploration of children in any way shape or form, but everyone deserves the presumption of innocence until the legal process says otherwise.

And as for anyone fighting an addiction, you wouldn't wish upon your worst enemy what an addict goes through if you knew anything about it.
