ESPN Yanks Hank Williams Jr. From "Monday Night Football"

Has Hank 3 had anything to say yet? Seriously.

Perspective is everything......

Shelton doesn't get along with his pop. It's kind of a sore subject.

And he gets really mad when people call him Shelton.

I guess I respect Hank Jr's room to speak his mind and be brutally honest while disagreeing with the
core of his viewpoint. I'm happy he was brutally honest about the way many think.

I don't agree, but value his unabridged input, whether alcohol 'enhanced' or not.
I've been to Dixie enough to know what real is.

I'd bet Hank 3 has much broader viewpoint on issues.

IMO NBC should have reacted to the ESPN/Hank Jr. controversy by canceling Faith Hill and her tripe at the beginning of SNF--a Lame-o and Lousy rendition of IMO the worst Joan Jett and the Blackhearts song ever recorded. Then get a real SNF theme song.

^ so faith hill butchered another rock classic besides piece of my heart?

And yet, Hank III becomes the second generation to try to cash in on the Hank Williams name. ::)

It's a big name. With a whole LOT of baggage. Sad story for #1 and Jr.
I have some hope that Shelton will do better at managing his opportunity.
His music is more appealing to me more than that of Jr.

That ended his radio airplay.
Not on the type country stations I listen to.

One of them said, "Where both Hanks play daily". It didn't have much of a signal and went Spanish after about five years, but the station that replaced it also plays both.

I was wondering whether any country radio stations pulled Hank's songs from their playlists after this happened. I haven't really heard any of our local country stations (out here I can pick up WQMX in Akron, WGAR in Cleveland, WQKT in Wooster, and WNCO in Mansfield) playing any of his music ever since then, but I don't know for sure. Anyone know of any stations that pulled his music ever since that Fox and Friends appearance?

Hank hasn't had a hit in 30 years.

Not true. According to Joel Whitburn, Hank Jr, has 44 Country chart hits since 1983 (30 years ago) - and 7 chart hits since 2000.

Still, he's among a set of artists that were popular 30 years ago. You hear him all the time
on the little local AM Classic Country station along with Waylon Jennings, Lynn Anderson,
Charley Pride, Don Williams, Barbara Mandrell, Anne Murray, etc.

None of which are in rotation on the FM country stations that play things recently on the charts.

Also on one big FM country station which plays only the good stuff.

Oh, and on their Outlaw Show at 5 PM, they play Hank 3.

He hasn't broken the Top 10 since 1990. And getting in a chart doesn't make a song a hit.

His on-stage antics and drunken behavior in the late 80s hurt his career. Anything he says or does now just makes it worse.

"Mmmm, subtopic, what should be the new MNF theme?"

The composite sound of millions of American Football viewers switching off their TV sets and getting up off their sofas, then stepping outside and gasping in awe and wonder as they look around for the first time ever to see the wide, wide world that has always existed around them.

On the subtopic of a new theme:

I think NBC has the right idea with Faith Hill. Drop-dead gorgeous women are a staple
of Nashville and sure to wrest the attention of male fans for 2 minutes and 15 seconds.

You can't have too many good looking women. It's the basic operating theory behind
Country Music. And the Fox News Channel.
