ESPN's Coverage of The Football Hall of Fame Induction

ESPN and Chris Berman did an outstanding job on Sunday covering the induction of Pollard, Freidman, Young and Marino into the Football Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio.

Berman got it right when he said "they saved the best for last."

Dan Marino's son, Danny, introduced his father with the best presentation of the day. It you didn't have tear in your eye you should check your pulse. The son gave the father, Dan, a tough act to follow but like the pro he is Dan Marino met the challenge and was every bit as moving as his son. He ended his speech with one final pass to one of his receivers who went out on the field to catch his pass.

The only odd moment was Steve Young's father's introductory speech which went on for about 40 minutes. It sounded more like a he was reading his diary from the first day his son, Steve, was born until today. Proud father, but someone should have put a stop watch to his speech. And it wouldn't hurt if his son, Steve Young learned some humility. He sounded like he was God's personal gift to pro football. He made Kurt Shilling sound like a shy and retiring rookie which takes some doing.

Also, the grandson of Pollard was exceptional as well. Did not know there was a "gentlemen's agreement" to ban black football players until the late from the late 1930's to the late 1940's and beyond. The other injustice was the late indcution of Benny Friedman, late head football coach of Brandeis University, into the football hall of fame because he was Jewish.

Thanks ESPN you did a great job today.

Are you kidding? I though Berman was an abomination. To wit:

1. Chris Berman is not funny. At all.
2. He looks awful. Sweating through his coat and greasy. Unprofessional.
3. HE WAS WEARING A YELLOW BLAZER. Chris Berman is not a member of the NFL Hall of Fame. Where does he get off thinking that he can wear a yellow blazer like the legit members of the Hall. Again, unprofessional.

IMHO Berman is a hack who ruins every broadcast that he touches with his over-the-top, unfunny schtick and his COMPLETE lack of integrity and professionalism. Blech

Well, Mrs. Lincoln, other than the incident, how did you like the play...

Wait a second here!

Your main criticisms of Berman are the fact he was sweating on a hot day and you didn't like his sportcoat.

As far as humor- I will take his good-natured, everyman's schtick over Stuart Scott's "GOD KNOWS WHAT he's talking about" anyday.

Not to mention the rest of the "personalities" with a left-wing agenda displayed on the network.

On the contrary, my main criticism of Berman was that he was/is incredibly unprofessional; his physical appearance was a part of that; the other part is that IMHO he ruins every broadcast he touches with his over-the-top schtick.

I'm no fan of Stu Scott either.

As to your left wing agenda comment? *shrugs* I guess if you are so paranoid that you find "agendas" in everything.....I dunno, is The Damn Sports Show a good clean, All American, Republican sports show, but Sports Center an obvious mole for a Islamist/Communist takeover of the American mind?

If you know, I'd be interested to hear.<P ID="signature">______________

Re: Wait a second here!

Berman is a tired act. He's a broken record trotting out the same tired old jokes all the time. Always commenting on LT giving the ball to the official - ALWAYS. WE GET IT. HE'S OLD SCHOOL - OK.

Plus there's the fact that whenever there's a high profile event like the All Star game or the Stanley Cup Finals (???) he always bumps off the more talented more experienced host in order to run his tired act out there. He's not a play by play guy.

Give me Stuart Scott or anyone before Boring Berman.
