I don't know who this guy is, but it's bonehead stunts like this that allow you to go from television in market 5 to radio on Thanksgiving day in Pittsburgh.

He's a piece of work this town's glad to be shed of. He was an "investigative reporter" (AKA "Public Defender," as 5 called the little group) in the worst way at Channel 5. He took the word of a stripper that Dallas Cowboys Michael Irvin and Erik Williams raped her, went to the airwaves to blow the story open, then the stripper recanted. Irvin and Williams settled their defamation of character suits against Ch 5 for about a million a piece. These days, he's accused of driving a PA pastor to suicide by mercilessly milking accusations about the guy being gay. Google Marty's name for some interesting reading.

His style is like a case of picking a target and then trying to find a problem to justify the smear, and also trying to create news, not just respond to it.

KRLD gave Marty a radio show briefly a few years back, and he also worked for KDAF-Ch 33 (likely under Ray Schonbak...the style fits.) He married former Ch 5 anchor Kristine Sorenson in 2003.

Marty worked at the Wichita Falls NBC affiliate when I was across town at the CBS shop in the early '80s. He was a sleazebag then. Some things never change.
