Expanded infomercial blocks on RTV affiliate WMFP-62.1 in Boston - move to 62.2?

What the *Bleep* was watching RTV this evening and at 7pm, instead of NAKED CITY, the channel, WMFP-62 went to infomercials - 6 hours earlier than usual!

Last night I tuned into Wolfman Mac at 10pm - and there was infomercials - I thought it might have been due to the storm they had to throw them in (They were running :05 and :35) But now I'm wondering if something is up with the station.

Then I checked my set-top OTA box - and RTV is running,as it should, on 62.2! This is getting really odd - are the completely moving RTV to .2 or running on .2 when they run extra infomercials on .1?

Mind you no announcements or anything!

I noticed the same thing - went to watch Wolfman Mac last night (thought it might be the weather as well) and The Saint tonight. Just before the 8:05 infomercial they showed a clip of The Saint (with the halo leading into the opening credits) and the RTV bumper. It's a bummer because I have great difficulty receiving WMFP over the air.

The did have "Movin' On" and "Naked City" on this afternoon. It was the end of the month - perhaps they ran a larger block of infomercials to balance the books?

I can assure you that RTV is not out of business.

Apparently the recent storm had something to do with the issues. For whatever reason, the could have 62.1 on 62.2 as they regularly do, but it wasn't showing up on 62.1 - the episodes that aired on Sunday on 62.1 were from an alternate feed.

While things seem to be back to normal, the bit rate is a little less than it was and the audio on one channel is lower than the other - so it's not completely fixed.

For the benefit of folks (like me) not quite so technically knowledgeable....... please explain how the "bit rate" affects WMFP's video.

Speaking of RTV audio, my upstate NY afilliate used to have the same issue, but I've not noticed it in a long while.

"Bit Rate" is the digital quality of the signal. Higher Bit-rate is better quality.
