Expansion of the Andelman Radio Empire

Today it was announced on their show that The Phantom Gourmet Radio Show will be adding an additional show each week on WTKK. In addition to the Saturday 4pm-7pm slot, they will add Friday from 10am-1pm.

can Ferran Adrià on WHRB be far behind?

come to think of it, MC Slim JB holding down a 2am spot WMFO sounds good

I eat at the same 5 same restaurants but I love their show. I try never to miss it. I think they are funny and topical. If I was PD I would have given them their own morning show.

on Ming Tsai's wikipedia entry it says "Tsai can be heard on the radio station WAAF 107.3 as a call in and sometimes as an in-studio guest on "The Hill-Man Morning Show". no idea if this is true, but i'm tempted to tune in, want to hear about this new seaport wedge diner thing

That's funny, I think that the Andelmans also eat at the same five restaurants. They're always talking about the same places; they need to go outside the box a bit more.

When someone's putting money into your pockets to eat and review the same five restaurants, you eat and review the same five restaurants.

Excellent. I just love hearing about whose car smells like vomit and how the old man doesn't throw away his Dunkin cups. I hate it when they spoil the fun talking about food. Unless it's Dave Wong's China Sails or The Raft.

A few years back (I can't recall the station) on a weekend show I heard the Andelman brothers talking about how their farts smelled. I listened to it for a few minutes, only because I couldn't believe it.

Ming Tsai, Jasper White, and Steve Uliss say hi.

How could you forget Ricky Fried-Chicken and his "smoking hot wife"? :D (pulled from an actual ad that airs on the radio show)

These guys don't know anything about food. They define 'gourmet' loosely considering they focus on fries, pizza and lobster rolls.

They are entertainers.

A three-hour show trying to be serious about food doesn't work for me (exhibit A: Paaaaat Ha-whitley).

Their show is better when they don't focus on food. A while back, they had a bumper talking about a memo from Greater Media brass asking them to talk more about food. Whether it was real is debatable but it made for a good laugh.

And regarding SonicAl's statement, would Fuddruckers allow sub-franchisees? I'd guess no for them to owning any restaurants outright.

I like them--I know they're mostly "low brow" but they make me laugh out loud--a lot--and that's a good thing. To me it's not a show about food; it's about 3 goofy brothers trying to crack each other, and me, up.

I prefer Pat Whitley.

I guess I am asking too much to expect a food show to be hosted by guys who know something about food and aren't obsessed with portion size.

In addition to the Saturday 4pm-7pm slot, they will add Friday from 10am-1pm.

The Saturday show was a replay of the Friday show this week.

Is that the new plan?

It's always a good idea to play a taped show where you give out the phone number every minute and don't bother to tell the audience that it's a replay. ???

btw TKK had local and live talk last night 7-9 pm, Josh Davis discussing Sikh mass shooting in Wisc.
RKO used to have Pundit Review--site said "Best of Todd Feinburg"

This is the second week that they have replayed all or part of the Friday morning show on Saturday afternoon. I hope this is not going to be sop.

When I heard all their regular advertisers on the Friday morning show I wondered if they were buying the time on Fridays as I always assumed they bought the time on Saturday. I ran into one of the Andelman Brothers over the weekend. He told me they were not buying the time on Friday but their deal allowed them to run some of their own spots.

Their radio show is far less about food then the TV show. enjoy them and think they certainly have more integrity than Pat Pay Me and I will talk nice about your restaurant, make sure there is never a caller on the air who speaks unkindly about your restaurant and I will even write fake letters of praise about your restaurant in my newspaper column Whitley. Whitley is and has always been a total fraud. Just my 2 cents.
