Eyewitness News returns to San Francisco Bay Area (KGO 7)

This time KGO-TV has adopted the name to match up with the rest of the O&O stations, although some use Action News. The Eyewitness News name was used for a long time on KPIX 5.

The amazing part here is that for 6 decades whenever KGO-TV had to get a segment from Los Angeles or had to simulcast KABC-TV for breaking news situations we heard the ABC7 Eyewitness News name get "Accidently" used on KGO mainly because the reporter is with KABC-TV. But the San Francisco news segments the local reporters had to identify their segment is with Channel 7 News or ABC7 News for decades due to Group W, CBS and Paramount holding those rights to the Eyewitness News for KPIX, KYW, KDKA,

Yes Paramount in recent years renamed all of their local newscasts as CBS News Bay Area, CBS News Pittsburgh, CBS News Philadelphia and other places where they own the local affiliate as part of merging the local news content with the CBS News and Paramount+ apps on TV's.
