Family radio 94.7 off the air

Though of course, was Family Radio's site like this before it went into Rapture mode? The graphical layout reeks "mid-1990s" to me.

IMHO, the site is obnoxious. Yeah, Mid-90's sounds about right. Yeesh.

I checked it last night, and all references to the false prophecy appear to have been expunged. Surely, the staffer who maintains the site wanted to purge it ASAP on the 22'nd. I can't blame them.

I just listened to FR for a few minutes earlier this morning. Same old lifeless programming. I love Christian music, but the stuff they play is sheer boredom on ice. :(

Camping's fraud outfit owns WCTF, a 1000 watt (500 critical hours) daytimer here in the Hartford area. Maybe the FCC can investigate this guy for misuse of the public airwaves.

Yeah, that website looks like something on Geocities in 1997. Pathetic.

Does anyone even listen to his stations? I don't listen to religious radio, but the ones I've noticed seem more inviting than what FR offers.

As for the website -- http://worldwide.familyradio.org/ still has the Rapture message (and yes, I've cleaned my cache), while the regular site ( http://www.familyradio.com/ ) no longer makes any mention of it.

I just checked, and it's true! That alternate site does still have the "00 Days Left" clock. ::)

Interesting to note, the alternate site has a much more professional look to it, than the Geocities-flavored one! ;) I have to guess that the staffer responsible for the site, must have pulled that old one out of some very old archives, or something. Ick. :p

Believe it or not, you're right.

Here's Family Radio's website from August 18, 2010, before they started up their rapture spree:

http://web.archive.org/web/20100818222437/http://www.familyradio.com//

In fact, Family Radio's website going all the way back to 1996 looks more professional and polished than what is there now.

Hey, they've upgraded the "Wayback Machine" quite a bit since the last time I used it! :) (About a month ago) VERY COOL!

In it's early days, FR's site definitely looked quite "Geocities-esque" with silly little animated graphics everywhere.

Now, here's a question... did "Open Forum" go away?

Yeah, I sure hope so.
I can still hear them here in South Carolina on Shortwave WYFR, that's still up and running as of right now.
What you heard was WYFK translater for BBN radio..most of BBN's all start with W Y...
WYFA, WYFW,WYBA etc. They are a Christian network also, nothing like family radio..
Check out www.bbnradio.org

At the start of Harold's "Mea Gotcha" on Monday night, he said that the show would continue the following night (Tuesday) with phone calls; only media allowed into the Family Radio compound during the taping of the show (it was pre-recorded by the way; one would be led to think that the "this program has been pre-recorded" message at the top of Monday's show meant a rerun, until Harold said the day was "May 23"...

If Harold Camping was Muslim and tried to predict Judgement Day from a politician's house in Pakistan. Everybody in the USA will take this as a 9/11 style threat and have the US Army and Marines bomb Mr.Campings hiding place.

BBN's listings does not list WYFR, which is owned by Family Radio -- its calls mean "We're Your Family Radio".

No radio of TV station group has exclusive rights to how call letters are structured. For instance, in Canada, the Tele-Quebec network owns several TV stations that begin with "CIV" (such as CIVM in Montreal and CIVQ in Qiebec City), but there's also a "CIVT", which is a CTV station in Vancouver.

Besides, would BBN carry any of Harold Camping's cruddy programming? I don't think so.

There is a BBN station licensed in my town, 91.1 WYFG in Gaffney SC.
WYFR is a shortwave station in South Florida and it's the only way I can hear Family Radio over the air at my location.
There is a Family Radio FM station in Charleston SC, 88.5 WFCH, but thats on the other side of the state.
