Family Radio Buys "End of The World" Ads on NYC Transit

Damn these Billboards are in San Francisco and Oakland too for Mr.Campings 610 am station here but they are on Freeways approaching the Bay Bridge.

Hal Lindsey posted a watchman's warning on Hallindsey.com regarding date setting and why he is against it. This was in response to the Harold Camping date. He also pulled up an article where Athiests were mocking Mr Camping's date of May 21. Forget all the past rapture things. Hal Lindsey pulled up a scripture in Romans recently on one of his older shows which shows that there is a time which God will know the full number of Gentiles which God preordained. Since no one except God the Father knows this number no one man can be smarter than God Almighty. The Rapture is soon but I must confess that most Christians are not smarter than God Almighty and when the rapture does come, it is God's call which day and hour he will bring up his people. To set a date certain means that person thinks he is smarter than God Almighty. It is folly and foolishness that some man can second guess God the Father like Mr Camping has done. Unfortunately, Mr Camping's radio ministry will not be the same.

I saw that article in the Contra Costa times they talked about this on Billboards in Oakland and Berkeley.

Lindsey is right in speaking out against Camping's date setting, but he's been guilty in the past of setting time frames (Jesus will return in the 70's, 80's, 90's etc.) which to me is no better.

Update Philippine media ABS-CBN news has shown that Mr Campings Billboards are in the Philippines and located on Metro Manila area Freeways. In the ABS-CBN report Mr Camping's supporters are blocking lanes of metro manila freeways for Mr Camping's Publicity Stunt. Does Mr Camping really own a station in the Philippines?

It should have started at about 1 AM ET along the Pacific islands just West of the International Date Line. I'm sure that Camping knows by now that nothing is happening.

And then there's this: http://money.cnn.com/2011/05/19/new...orld-finances-harold-camping/index.htm?hpt=C1 Apparently even some of Camping's employees didn't believe him and plan to be at work on Monday. There's a lso a link to Camping's "Goodbye letter"  at http://money.cnn.com/news/economy/storysupplement/harold_camping/?iid=EL where he tells employees to continue their work in spreading the Gospel.  ???

I believe that if Family Radio has any kind of board that isn't anything but a bunch of yes men to Camping that it's way past time to put him out.

I kind of feel sorry for the guy. I have been listening to his "Open Forum" program on WYFR shortwave, once in a while for the last few years, hoping to hear one of those callers who argue, disagree or simply cuss him out, (as occasionally posted in Glen Hauser's "World of Radio" website). Since he has no time delay or kill switch, it all gets out over the airwaves, even on the later repeats. I don't think he realized that this episode of his 'end of the world' saga would get so much publicity, national billboards, BBC interviews, pop culture jokes/references, etc. It seems that almost everyone has heard of Mr Camping's publicity stunt/sham, eventhough they had never known about Family Radio, WYFR or Harold Camping before. Until I read about his 1994 end of world fiasco, I never knew about it and I was a daily shortwave radio listener at that time. I never saw anything about him on CNN, CNN Headline News or Bloomberg channel (those were the only cable news channels available in 1994). And now he's everywhere, even local pastors/preists are commenting on his misguided ways. I wonder how Camping is going to explain his way out of this one? Hopefully it will be the end of Family Radio, which will free up a lot of frequencies on shortwave for someone else to use, other than religion merchants.

Rather than see Family Radio go away, I'd simply remove Harold Camping. The music they play is very worshipful and unique. Some of the other features are unique. The only problem I've found is Harold Camping and his teachings. So eliminate his influence completely. Their board needs to give him the golden parachute and have him retire. With their unique music and programming, Family Radio would be a great alternative for those Christians who want a quieter form of Religious music other than CCM Top 40.

I realize most here probably would never listen to Family Radio, but apparently there are enough folks willing to pony up the money from their wallets to keep a world wide network of radio stations running 24/7. So as those folks are paying the bills, and you and I are not paying anything via any government support, why should it go dark.

I agree with MikefromDelaware. I'm 45 & can't seem to get into the CCM-type of religious music. Family Radio also has some of the best Christmas music around. It would truly be a shame to lose that format of Christian radio.

I also listen to FR's "Quiet Hours", an overnight music program. It's very relaxing. For me, it's a choice between that & Moody's "Music Through the Night".

I'm also one of those that doesn't understand CCM-type music in my church services, either. Call me a premature "old fart".

I also listened to the (what may or me not be the last) "Open Forum, when Camping said goodbye Thursday night. He held steadfast to his conviction without name-calling to those who didn't buy into his theory.

I've also heard "Open Forum" on & off for almost 20 years. His wacky predictions aside, he was one of the few talk radio (if you can call it that) hosts that took the time to listen to the caller & answer their question.

Well, this is your day, because in three time zones we have passed the 6:00 p.m. deadline for Judgment Day.

Methinks he won't have the guts to do that on Monday... ;)

Although I'm not a big listener to traditional stations, I could go along with Family Radio becoming something similar to BBN, which has traditional music and programming that is biblically sound for the most part, if getting rid of Camping would accomplish that.

The big question is does Camping have anything like a board that he actually has to answer to, or is he actually the network's dictator, and if there is a board they're nothing but yes men to him? I'd think that if Family Radio had any kind of a real board with any backbone they should have removed him when he started making predictions that Jesus would return in 1994.

Appreciated reading everyone's comments. We, specifically LIFT FM, did most recently try to buy one of Harold Camping's stations (Philadelphia). We offered to pay upfront and then take ownership this November 2011. The only person that would speak to us was the Family Radio receptionist.

Many of you expressed a valid statement. Family Radio can't move forward until Camping leaves. The problem is, he owns it all. He won't be leaving any time soon.

Christ will Return to take his Church. But it was proved that it will be on God's timetable. All Harold Camping did was to prove how perilous his date setting really was. It also shows him to be a false prophet. He will have to explain himself and where he went wrong.

Here's the one word to which Mr. Camping and his followers will be referred to from now on: laughingstocks. ;D :D ;) ::)

By the way, I reached the 0.5 milestone with this one.

I just wonder if some major financial supporter could pressure Camping into stepping down, But then this goes back to the question of why something hasn't been done before now unless they're totally buying into what Camping is teaching.
