The Bible guarantees that Camping won't quit. In Daniel 3:4. we find:
"Then Harold cried aloud, To you it is commanded, O people, nations, and languages,"

oh...wait... :-[

If Harold Camping was Muslim and tried to predict Judgement Day from a politician's house in Pakistan. Everybody in the USA will take this as a 9/11 style threat and have the US Army and Marines bomb Mr.Campings hiding place. Except Camping is trying to use Bin Laden Tactics by doing scripted propaganda from his Various hiding places in Oakland and San Francisco.

that is a rather strong statement. If Camping is truly in the same league that Bin Laden was in, name for me all the buildings, ships and embassies Camping has bombed.

Where it took almost ten years to find the front door of Bin Laden's place of residence, I see reporters were knocking on the door of Camping within hours of the failure of his prediction and he firmly but politely said: "No interviews at this time. Later."

In every community I have ever lived in there has been at least one church and one preacher announcing with surety that the end of the world, the second coming, the rapture, will certainly occur "in my lifetime". Camping simply acquired a larger megaphone than most such proclaimers. Camping simply narrowed down the time frame from a 30 or 40 year window to a very finite specific time frame.

What do you propose we do in this country about the hundreds, the thousands... probably the hundreds of thousands of people who a "preching the Gospel" of a fiery end to the earth at the hands of a diety?

Nothing. Absolutely nothing - at least not publically. Everyone is responsible for his/her own belief(s), and if we "do" something - or get the "government" to do something (in the name of "protection"), the legislation would be broad enough to eventually put a tight clamp on "normal" Christianity. We certainly don't need that; keep everything in the private.

I'm not saying anyone here is advocating government control, no matter what package it disguises itself. It's a one-on-one type of thing covered with a lot of prayer. Just this past week, I've run into 5 people who needed encouragement because Harold's prediction didn't come through (at least not physically). (All of them were deeply in debt and wanted to escape.)
