I'm not sure if it's been discussed here that Family Radio founder Harold Camping believes Judgement Day will be May 21, 2011. Even though the Bible says no one knows the hour or day, Camping says that refers to the Church Era, which we passed some years ago. It's now possible to figure out the date.
He is absolutely certain about this, claiming his past mis-calculations were similar to a child falling off a bicycle before he can ride it correctly. Family Radio even has bought signs on NYC buses and subways saying "World Destruction Cometh" May 21, 2011. 94.7 FM, FamilyRadio.com (Does God prefer old-fashioned English, like "cometh" instead of "comes"? Camping seems to think God likes 1960s style American Gospel music best because that's the music he programs on his stations.)
When callers question him on his "Open Forum" broadcasts, he never shows any signs of the slightest doubt, and even becomes testy if the caller questions him further. I wonder if Family Radio listeners have actually bought into this prediction. Why keep sending the kids to school? Why get a doctor or dentist's exam if we won't need these bodies six months from now? Why keep working if you've got enough money to last till next Spring? For that matter, if Family Radio has enough cash on hand to keep the stations operating till next May, why do they keep asking for monetary support? Why file FCC license renewal forms for the hundred or so stations they own? There'll be no U.S. government to reclaim the licenses after May 21.
Have they really suspended all plans for the future?
