Farrah Fawcett Left Out of Oscar Tribute

Farrah Fawcett was left out of the Oscars 'In Memoriam' tribute. :'(

Intentional? Was she not a member of the Academy? ???

Granted, she did much more TV than film work... but Michael Jackson was included, and his filmography is super short. ::)

Interesting.... I wonder how AMPAS will explain this one.

Here's a list of her work from the IMDB

http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000396/

I can see leaving Fawcett out as she didn't do anything noteworthy in film. Bea Arthur was also left out, but again, Arthur is known for TV work.

Jackson was put in simply because of ratings and he was magnitudes higher in the fame department than either Arthur or Fawcett.

Of course he didn't do much but it's just about fame

Here's Jackson at the IMBD

Bea Arthur was also left out. They'll probably say "Well, they were bigger stars on TV so we'll let the Emmy's salute them during their "Dead Celebrities" segment.

Mark Evanier (newsfromme.com) points out the similar omission of Henry Gibson. He shoulda made it on the strength of "Nashville".

About 10 years ago, they forgot the death of singer Peggy Lee. OK, she was primarily known for her vocal work but she had been nominated for Best Supporting Actress for the movie "Pete Kelly's Blues."

"And now, a list of those we've lost this millennium...

Joan Of Arc
Leonardo Da Vinci
Norman Fell"

Don't forget Bea Arthur was a co-star in the 1974 theatrical version of "Mame", (with Lucille Ball, no less). But, yes better known for TV. As was Farrah. But, good grief, is the Academy that pretentious that they can't observe "late" stars from any medium during the past year. Michael Jackson? Name two movies other than his post-death fiasco that he has been in.

The only ones I can think of off-hand is "The Wiz" and "Moonwalker", as well as the "Captain EO" short at Disney World. He also sung the title song in "Ben".

Apart from "This is It", that is that.

Farrah Fawcett did team with up Charles Grodin, Joan Collins and Art Carney in 1979 to do the movie "Sunburn". I am pretty sure it was the result of this movie that gave Paul McCartney a number one hit, that being "With A Little Luck". Of course would Paul still had a number one tune with that "gem" even WITHOUT "Sunburn", I guess one could debate it.

Paul did make "With a Little Luck" the #1 song without Sunburn -- the song was released a year earlier, in March 1978, and hit #1 by May of that year.

Unless you count that 15-minute, overblown, overhyped, overproduced "Thriller" video! ::) That monstrosity was about 14 minutes too long! ::)

Well, apparently, someone is making a fuss about this: her ex-boyfriend, Ryan O'Neal:

(Hey, I wonder if Ryan reads this board... Did he find out about this from alleged R-I lurker Harry Shearer? ;) )

By the way, at this posting, Farrah Fawcett's name is currently the second top trending topic on Google's "In The News" terms.

Harry, I mean, KentBrockman is quite a trendsetter.

I'm not surprised they left Ms. Fawcett out...although 'Extremities' did nab her a Golden Globe nomination for Best Actress in a Motion Picture.

I figure after they omitted legendary voice over actor Don (In A World where ...) LaFontaine last year, anything was possible....

You know, if her character had only kept her door locked that day, the movie's plotline would probably never even exist!

I wonder if the late Corey Haim is going to be left out of the "In Memoriam" segment on the next Oscar telecast...

As previously mentioned, don't forget about the long-form version of "Thriller".

And he also contributed the title song to the first "Free Willy" film.

Depends on if anyone else who's high profile with a very limited filmography kicks it before 2011.
